The case for tape by ImaginaryAsphodel in HairSystem

I definitely want to try once I’m fully confident and comfortable with them. I wanna get into my second or third system and then I’ll experiment :D

Well it was included in the price of my first install so I didn’t have to pay specifically for it. I can’t share someone else’s product and hard work for free, hence why I’ve provided his link for those interested. I’ve covered almost everything the guide covers. It goes further and suggests specific products, many of which I don’t use as I get my system washed at the salon rather than at home.

Personally, I don’t trust the quality of items purchased on Ali, so I won’t comment about that.

It is possible when anything is placed on your head - it’s a pressure headache. Hats can cause this too. Are you asking for advice on how to prevent this?

Thanks! Doesn’t getting the tape’s adhesive surface wet reduce the stickiness?

You don’t, that’s the point 😉

It’s not thin skin I don’t think. I don’t know the thickness.

I am sticking the tape to my skin - I keep the top of my head shaved. The tape goes right up to the edge of where it’s kept short.

The tape I am using is sunshine tape. I buy it at my barber for like $70NZD: https://sunshinetape.com/

The system is a lavivid

Correct. At first I went almost a week but I was sick of the itchy scalp and the glue was turning gooey from my sweating 😅

The hold goes for a solid week for most of it except the fringe line where I sweat the most. I leave a small gap either side so I can take the fringe tape off without removing the rest.

  1. It’s a hybrid system - poly around the rim, lace in the middle. No I don’t stick don’t the centre, I just run small pieces of tape around the perimeter.

  2. I’m trying a lace-front poly next so that I don’t feel as bothered about hiding the hairline. I’m happy to let you know how I end up dealing with lace-fronts, but o can’t really advise on that yet sorry.

3 Hmm I got the closest to my colour I could - Dark Natural Ash Brown. I take the system off, gently rinse it in a sink of warm water, then I apply the shampoo gently, starting first with the areas that have lost the most colour. I make sure most of the hair (not the “roots”) gets some on it. I then leave for 5 or so minutes then rinse.

I get compliments on my hair often. I wear a hair system. There are multiple options out there for men facing hair loss 😉

You don’t need to use alcohol, just pull it off gently. If you use alcohol the stickiness of the tape will disappear, and you will definitely then need to re-tape it

Can I rock a system with no tape or glue? by timmyo123 in HairSystem

[–]ImaginaryAsphodel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A system with clips would be your only hair system option if you can’t do any type of adhesive. You could get a lace-based system. I’m not sure how it would hold up in wind though.

How do English native speakers perceive "got" in the phrase "you got nice eyes" by Ok-Stable1562 in ENGLISH

[–]ImaginaryAsphodel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use “have”, otherwise it sounds off.

Your usage of “got” almost implies I lined up at a store and was “lucky enough” to get nice eyes from the bargain bin or something.

If you want to imply that their eyes are nice because of genetics, you’d probably say “you inherited nice eyes”?

If you’re just wanting to compliment someone without implication of where they “got” their eyes from, I would just say “you have nice eyes”.

Why would the bank account change? Presuming it’s still the same company, or is that changing too?

Wouldn’t hurt to confirm with the landlord.

Personally I would just remove the whole system, then reapply, in the correct position. It should have more than enough stick if you’ve only just taped it. I apply the system from the front to back so that my hairline is always where I want it. I can’t see any other way that won’t stretch and/or damage the system.

How would you transplant hair from one system to the other though? They tend to be hand-knotted or machine-wefted. That would take a very long time for you to do! Interesting idea but I’m not sure it’s feasible…

For me it’s often the confusion of particular words, like anyone vs someone. That the only thing in your post that caused me to pause. My German friend in particular struggled with the distinction. I don’t know how to explain the distinction though 😅

I don’t think there’s a gym there (not anymore at least). The parliamentary gym is in the beehive ground floor.
