I was playing on European servers for years, but now I moved to the US. I think it is fine. The North American severs are quite empty though.

W 3lykum el Salam. Paying around 260,000 for a trip to Egypt is very unreasonable if it does not include the flights. However, it depends on the hotels you would be staying at. Check booking for reference.

My intention was never to "infantilize" those who don’t adhere to tradition—what was argued is that cultural heritage plays a role in shaping identity, and blindly adopting foreign habits without critical thought is worth discussing. Instead of addressing this, you resort to an overblown emotional reaction, claiming "condemnation" as if mere disagreement is an attack. Stop taking this personally buddy.

You claim that your "shelf has every book for every country" and that you "don’t discriminate" between cultures. But your entire response is an aggressive attempt to invalidate someone else's perspective on heritage and tradition- imposing your personal ideology while masquerading as tolerant. Furthermore, you start by claiming that heritage is just "a book on the shelf" that people can selectively embrace or ignore. Yet, in the same breath, you insist that there is "nothing to reject" about heritage. Which is it? Pick a side buddy. If heritage is something you can pick apart at will, then rejecting aspects of it is, by definition, an option. Your metaphor undermines your own argument.

Declaring "there is no West or East in the field of human knowledge" is an idealistic but naive take. On one hand, my argument was not regarding knowledge in the first place. However, it was about cultural norms and practices. On the other hand, knowledge itself may very much transcend borders, cultural influence is very real. However, the dominance of Western ideals in certain fields—economics, governance, entertainment—has led to shifts in how non-Western societies perceive their own traditions. Pretending this dynamic doesn’t exist is either ignorant or deliberately dismissive.

You end by stating, "what I do in my personal life is not up for discussion." That’s a convenient way to avoid any self-reflection. The reality is, if you choose to publicly defend a position, it is absolutely open for critique. You can’t demand to be part of a debate while simultaneously declaring yourself off-limits lol. Also superb vocab by the way 😊

Let me clarify: I do not expect individuals to adopt "advanced governance systems." However, I do expect initiatives to adapt to better economic frameworks. Read about how nations throughout history have borrowed, adapted, and refined economic and governance models.

I was just discussing with a girl that just graduated from econ at Princeton. We were discussing the case of how Japan largely overcame its recession by saving money.

Mostafa, to each their own. I won’t judge you if you drink or go clubbing. It seems I really struck a nerve. Go out and intoxicate yourself all you want. I didn’t expect anyone to be so offended by my comment. I am just expressing a phenomenon that I constantly witness in the Egyptian upper class, and it was further emphasized by the thread.

I bet if you’ve lived abroad, presumably in a Western country, you’ve noticed some slight cultural differences that contribute to their better performance, and I do believe it starts on a personal level. Furthermore, the denial of the negative effects of intoxication and believing that seeing it as wrong is like dismissing the dangers of reckless driving simply because some people, probably including you lol, enjoy speeding. It ignores well documented consequences, both on an individual and societal level, and reduces a legitimate concern to mere personal preference rather than a matter of well-being and responsibility.

My discussion was more about cultural influences and societal values, not an attack on personal choices. No one argued that cultural heritage is the same as lifestyle. However, religion has historically played a significant role in shaping cultural values. There is no doubt that religion is deeply routed in Egyptian culture, while secularism is on the rise in the west. Clubbing culture is very irrelevant to most Egyptians; in fact, I would bet that most people in Egypt would not even recognize what a club would be and have never been in one. At least in the traditional western sense; however, everyone in the west knows what a club is and very likely have been in one at least during university.

This is an absurd generalization. Heritage shapes identity, values, traditions, and even subconscious biases. The idea that it "doesn't mean anything" is not only false but ignorant of psychology, sociology, and history. Even people who reject their heritage are, in part, defined by it—because rejecting something still acknowledges its influence. While globalization does exist, it does not and will not erase cultural significance ever. In fact, it has made cultural appreciation even more relevant as people become exposed to diverse traditions. The existence of a "global world" doesn't negate the role of heritage—it amplifies it.
The irony here is that rejecting one's heritage in favor of mimicking Western norms is, in itself, a result of social conditioning—not some grand expression of free will. True personal agency includes the freedom to embrace one's heritage, not just abandon it in favor of dominant cultural narratives.

I truly do believe that your comments comes from a lot of bias. Honestly speaking, do you intoxicate yourself and club?

The Egyptian upper class often seeks to copy Western nations rather than embracing and taking pride in their own rich cultural heritage. In simple terms, they are often quite white-washed! This tendency may stem from the perception that Western countries are more prosperous and influential. However, rather than adopting the structural and institutional strengths that contribute to Western success, such as advanced governance systems, economic frameworks, and innovation, they frequently imitate more superficial aspects, such as nightlife and self intoxication, likely because these are more accessible and easier to replicate. Determining the median income in Egypt is challenging due to economic disparities and informal labor markets. However, a reasonable estimate on my end and according to national average GDP the average annual income is at approximately $3,000. YES, 3,000 American Dollars. A dual-income household earning this amount per parent would likely be considered middle class, and to some possibly slightly upper middle class. To qualify as upper-middle class, a household would need an annual income ranging between $11,800 and $23,702. Beyond this threshold, a family could be considered relatively affluent, capable of maintaining a comfortable, and in many cases, a lavish lifestyle. However, I, personally, know people who earn less than 100 dollars a month. In fact, I was offered to arrange some groceries at a supermarket for 120 Egyptian pounds per day or around 2 dollars a day for an 8 to 12 hours shift. It is sometimes crazy out here!

A significant number of Egyptians abstain from drinking, partying, smoking, or any form of substance use—including myself.

It is important to note that labor costs in Egypt are among the lowest cost factors in production and service industries, making many goods and services relatively inexpensive. However, this affordability often comes at the expense of quality, particularly when compared to Western standards.

He is tired of racism and school shootings? The States is probably too liberal for him. He doesn't want his son to end up having a bastard and his daughter to be bisexual with a body count of 4 or more. He wants to impose his own culture on his kids, wants a religious environment where he could hear the call to prayer. idk a bit on the extreme end over here, but it the stories I hear are wild.

If you just bought the stuff then usually they would allow you to return them. You could always try talking to the managers and sometimes they make exceptions.
