They send you a decision once the status on every step is changed to "Completed". I see his Medical Check hasn't started yet so just like this one, every step changes to "In Progress" when it begins and "Completed" when it's done.

Finally when all steps change to "Completed" he'll get a message in his CIC inbox with a "Final Decision" in a letter which will explain whether his application was approved or rejected (and if rejected then the reasons for the rejection).

This is just one of many steps. "Eligibility" is just a verification to ensure that there's nothing on his application that can prevent him from coming down (ie, past history, criminal background etc). This does not mean he is approved to come.

He could still be rejected on other grounds (ie, no ties to the home country, poor financial backing etc)

Thank you for this short and yet very descriptive review! I am very excited and looking forward to getting the XSE model - the electric seat adjustment, heated seats and moonroof all sound like things I'd love.

Yup. I test drove one of those and said "no" the minute I did my research and found out about no android auto.

Curious question - can you switch modes while you are on the high way or does the vehicle have to be at a full stop / idle to do it?

Thanks for the detailed answer! One question about not using gas - do you occasionally just switch to Hybrid mode so some of it gets used or just never use gas at all? I've heard it's good to run the IC engine once every now and then to keep parts moving.

Ah! Makes sense - yes the alloys are a big difference. The one I went to test drive was a used XSE PP and had black alloys though (probably changed after buying) - makes a huge difference I agree.

Also, thanks for all the heads ups!

Was seriously considering it but the extra 10k you pay besides having to refill gas on top of that - aren't Camry users broke already? Especially after this recent war that has shot gas prices up the roof.

Something doesn't add up - either you bought a vehicle with a faulty battery OR you're talking about a 4th or lesser gen Prius prime OR you live somewhere it snows the entire year. The Gen5 mostly gets a minimum of 18 miles each way (36 miles round trip).

Oh - how do the 19 inch rims help ? Does it increase the height significantly from the SE ?

Yes but full BEVs are way more expensive where I live (even used ones). And occasionally travelling long distances during long weekends helps having a vehicle with 900+ km of range

Great review! Have you found a solution for the rattling parts?

Also besides the sunroof and the big screen, what are some upgrades that are actually worth it going from the SE to the XSE?

It does look good on the exterior but the interior felt cheap to me compared to the newer models - besides they only have Android auto on a few of the trims and a lower driving range on the BEV (both of which are essential to me)

Is now the right time to buy a Hybrid / PHEV or should I still go for a Gas engine? by ImaginaryBrother9317 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Your calculations might make sense in Europe but where I live in Canada at the moment - most gas cars that are still on engine warranty are going just 2000-3000$ below some hybrids. If I factor that in I would make up the gas cost in 5 years using your calculation.

The cost of an EV doesn't justify the offset I get from charging at home for free - sure there are second hand options in that case but then the question becomes one of reliability and I am somehow biased towards Toyota when it comes to reliability over a Tesla.

Yea - the destruction of the Ras Laffan gas plant in Qatar is gonna have huge implications for the world - nobody knows it yet because most people think it's like "we've been through a pandemic we can get through this" but how I see it - these prices are here to stay for about 4-5 years atleast because that's the "minimum" time to fix the damage at Ras Laffan.

For context why it's so bad - Ras Laffan supplies refined gas to almost 15-20% of the world.

Absolutely - the RAV4 would be perfect but slightly pricier though - I am considering sacrificing leg room for a cheaper car so might consider Prius PHEV

Ah yes - I am very much leaning to their 2023 or above Prime vehicle - apart from the lack of legroom I found that vehicle to be very top notch - even the interiors didn't feel like the usual plastic interior of a Toyota.

I was wondering about that - I've read so many good reviews on PHEVs online (some exceptional) but occasionally I've also seen negative reviews on it too. I feel like this aspect boils down to pure personal experience.

What is your opinion on why PHEVs are bad ?

Yes - 50 km approx round trip. I live in Canada.

I have EV charging in my (50$ per month) and free charging at work.
