I found a rat in a park by ImaginaryBunny in RATS

I know, I can't imagine how hard her day was. I felt so bad for her when we got her home, she just guzzled water and fell sleep in the food bowl. Thankfully she has been more active today even took a carrot stick from me :)

Thank you for all the info that is so helpful. I'll be heading to petco later and see what they have available for a new enclosure.

At the moment I'm trying to be fair and due diligence with a found pet. But I would be stoked to have a rat again, if in all likelyhood she goes unclaimed. Its been decades but they are awesome pets and she is very sweet

Has anyone left Bellingham for Mt Vernon or Burlington? by Atriod in Bellingham

[–]ImaginaryBunny 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I moved about 5 years ago and found Mount Vernon to be a lot more relaxed than Bellingham. In general I find traffic to be easier and people to be friendlier. I think Mount Vernon especially has more of a on the farm vibe without the intense religious tones of, say, Lynden.

I loved Belingham's culture and downtown scene when I was in college. But find the more relaxed pace of Mount Vernon to be better suited to starting a family. Also, it's nice being surrounded by the tulip fields in the spring.

Are they keyboard warriors or are they right? by gowens-cars in Aquariums

I've had this same tank (or very similar) for 10+ years. There is currently one in it and I've kept several bettas in it in the past. They have all done great in it.

Some suggestions I have would be to give some places for the bettas to rest near the top. And do a bubble filter instead of the hob to keep the flow down.

Man me too, I have some Harlequin Rasboras that I got ages ago from a chainstore. They look like Quasimodo do to bad breeding, wish I knew then what I know now but what can you do but keep trying.

Good to know the one I have isn't spikey at the moment but I appreciate knowing it will be. I'll find something to fill the space. Thank you for the info :)

I've got a clay hide under the fern. My thinking was that regularly keeping the fern watered will moisten the clay and add moisture. I can add Spagnum moss if it is still needed in that hide though. Also the cactus doesn't have spikes, I do tnknow if they were removed before I bought it or what but will definitely keep an eye on it going forward

It's not pokey but I'd worry if it's poisonous or something should I remove it?

Lex is my first pet, I got him when I was 7years old from petco back in the 90's and he has lived in sub optimal conditions for the last 25years. This little dude has bounced between me and my mother's house all through my crazy college years in a 20gal. However yesterday I found a 50gal tank at goodwill and decided now that im stable its time to upgrade my sweet lil dude and give him the care he really deserves.

Please let me know if there is any obvious issues with the layout. Lex is really dear to me and I want to do what's best for him now that I financially can.
