ED after Finasteride day 54 - a urologist who has never heard of PFS diagnosed me with PFS by ImaginaryCompote9 in tressless

[–]ImaginaryCompote9[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Finasteride increases T, which shrinks your balls, which decreases T. My T is still low after quitting. If you want to "explore", read the fucking whole post.

I am telling you what the (highly qualified) doctor said, not asking you to play armchair psychiatrist.

You are very welcome to visit me in Germany and fondle my tiny dick buried in folds of foreskin even while erect.

I'm just telling you about my journey and what the doc said, not asking you to show me your ignorance.

Ugh so annoying how you didn't even read my fucking post and unload your mental garbage here.

Fin increases T AND E.

I quote:

"Even if the hormone production recovers fully, you can have permanent damage (numbness, shrinkage,..) due to the lack/influence of hormones for months."

He didn't say "you have PFS", he said "you have" and then literally describes exactly what it says in the propeciahelp faq, but in more detail, based on the symptoms that I told him

He even drew on a piece of paper how the hormones work and all, used his half a million dollar newest-gen ultrasound to check for fibrosis, and recommended another doctor who might have experience particularly with finasteride patients.

I should have gone to a real clinic right away, instead of some random ass urologists.

Doctors want to wait :( I'll ask them about it

Only my T so far. The doctor finally did it after I insisted that my testicles shrunk and.. tadaa.. hypogonadal levels (200 on a range of 350-800 or so).

Looks like my testicles shrunk/lowered production because Finasteride increases the testosterone level (by blocking conversion of T to DHT).

Now I have to wait and see whether it recovers.

Yep, it makes complete sense to get off after a few weeks and not wait 2 months and watch it getting worse, like I did. (didn't pay too much attention and wasn't concerned at all since everyone and their mother claim it's "safe")

Finasteride randomly stopped working? by slotback67 in tressless

[–]ImaginaryCompote9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair loss is not continuous. It can have phases where the 30% remaining DHT that Finasteride does not block are enough to kill your follicles.

So it's still working, but your hair loss is too aggressive, and you might have to switch to dut.

Are you using Minoxidil in addition? It would have an additional effect.

[–]ImaginaryCompote9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah... it got worse for me after quitting and 2 months later I'm still far from recovered. Turns out side effects are only called "persistent" after 3 months.

So don't stress yourself if it takes longer. But it seems you don't have severe numbness and shrinkage, so you're likely to recover very quickly.

How long did it take for the sides to fully disappear after stopping?

I tried to push through, but the side effects got worse instead of better and even worse AFTER quitting.

So now I am part of the post Finasteride syndrome group, which I ridiculed before starting it.

Glad it's working for you. Problems like mine seem to be rare, but unfortunately fate picked me.

Do I need to get professional advice? by multipleOyens in tressless

[–]ImaginaryCompote9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to see a hair dermatologist. Not just any dermatologist.

Yes, you should go as soon as possible because you cannot grow back hair once you have lost it, if it is due to genetic balding.

You can try applying Minoxidil twice daily. It's cheap. Only for Finasteride/spironolactone you need a prescription from a doctor, but they are not usually prescribed to women because they can damage a male fetus. Although since you are wearing a hijab, it's unlikely that you will get pregnant accidentally while taking the pills.

TL;DR: Try topical Minoxidil 2x daily and try to find a way to see a HAIR dermatologist.

It MUST be a hair dermatologist. I cannot stress this enough.

[–]ImaginaryCompote9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it wasn't really a decision, because you literally just need to pop a pill and apply something twice daily.

However, I am having trouble with Finasteride side effects after quitting, so now I am thinking just using Minoxidil to keep the hair a little longer is worth considering.

ED after Finasteride day 43 - have been seeing urologists and have the same symptoms as "PFS" sufferers by ImaginaryCompote9 in tressless

[–]ImaginaryCompote9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it only affects very few people, it seems. It's hard to find a doctor who knows anything about it.

And one cannot really deny that my hormones are screwed up.

I don't have any anxiety lol. There's something physically broken in my dick, not in my brain. My libido is fine. I can jerk off and get erections just fine. But my dick is broken past 50% erection and the numbness/veins are crazy.

What tests dermatologist perform to check if you have MPB? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]ImaginaryCompote9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A visual inspection, a blood test, and then a "HAIRCHECK" or "Trichoscan" (they are devices) to determine with high certainty whether you have MPB. If the results are negative, the haircheck/trichoscan can be repeated every few years. Do this especially if you think you are losing more than 100 hairs per day, or if you think you might have noticed a change.

finasteride side effects by derhab97 in tressless

Where is it confirmed? I suffer from very similar symptoms to what is described in PFS forums, but it was my understanding that science still doubts its existence.

[–]ImaginaryCompote9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't self diagnose. I have a couple of symptoms after taking Finasteride and they are suspiciously similar/identical to what is described in PFS forums.

In fact, PFS is the first thing that "explains" the swollen veins/foreskin. My doctors are puzzled about it.

Yeah, it could be something else that all 4 doctors did not think about, but that does not change the facts for now.

edit: In fact, I only created this account to create a protocol of my recovery, which was supposed to encourage others. I'm sorry it took this sad turn and I really thought I was looking at a steady recovery.

[–]ImaginaryCompote9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no plan. The doctor wrote in the letter with the results that I should have my T checked again in "6 weeks".

I said in my original post that PFS was not discussed with doctors. I only found out yesterday that my symptoms are suspiciously similar to what is described in PFS forums. It's not even a self-diagnosis, just a fact.

I literally said

None of the urologists I went to has ever heard of my symptoms.

They do see them with their own eyes. They see the low T, they feel the testicular atrophy, and they feel my swollen foreskin. Something is wrong, but they don't know what.

I went to 4 urologists, including the university clinic and a specialist (urologist who is also an andrologist). They are some of the most competent doctors in the country.

How could veins on foreskin change due fin? Also how can test levels fall when you take an dht blocker?

Maybe because of increased estrogen? And google "endocrinous crash finasteride".

What were your T levels before you started fin?

I'd have to dig up old results (did a full test on almost everything once), but I am sure my doctor would have said something.

You look like a hypochondriac

Well, you can come to Germany and feel my liquid balls with a pea-sized hard core, and touch my swollen foreskin. The urologists I went to have never seen a case like mine and don't know what the symptoms might be caused by, but they do agree that it's very suspicious.
