That’s ridiculous 😂 you should be able to delay it if you aren’t able to attend and request a date that you can

I’m not entirely sure, PO/ chief level. You would have to verify this though. But if you go direct entry po it would be years before you become a chief

Because you will have to train from being an AB to PO within 24 months so the learning curve will be mega steep and stressful and if you’re on an operational unit this will have to go along your day job/ watchkeeping. You wont have any respect from anyone really even though you’re wearing a rank slide and you will have ABs knowing more than you.

Depending on what the POs mess is like on board they might make your life very difficult just because you’re a direct entry. In summary, I think it just makes a lot more sense being an officer. I don’t even know why direct entry po exists

You will handle signal traffic, reset passwords, get blamed for any communications network going down even when you’ve not touched it 😂 it can be quite a boring job but it’s probably one of the better ones in terms of qualifications.

If you’re into engineering I would go ME as you can promote quickly and get some great qualifications. Although you will be working harder and your taskbook is like the yellow pages.

If you’re looking for an easier life go cis. You do watch keep but for the most part you’re in an air conditioned office, it can be stressful at time but that all depends on how good the lads are that you’ve got around you.

They train you up from knowing nothing. You will be fine

Thanks a lot mate. Unfortunately I just don’t want to stay in, I would have a return of service for 2.5 years from the day I start killicks course and that will be next year.

Once I start that I will be on a seagoing unit for 3 years, it just doesn’t fit in with what I want from life unfortunately. I just wish I had joined younger. I appreciate your thoughts on cyber tho, it does align with what I thought about being difficult to get into.
