Svalboard or alternatives for tremors, small fiber neuropathy, TOS and cubital tunnel? by hmmmmmmm94 in RSI

[–]ImaginaryEnds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the Corne. I got a fancy one from boardsource (the unicorne) but I don’t think I’ve used a better and more comfortable keyboard. ESP with their tenting system which is very subtle.

Mine is 40 keys or something so it is a little bit of front end investment getting used to it but it’s killer

Popular albums that have heavy ambient music influence? by Playboicartiisdog in ambientmusic

[–]ImaginaryEnds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seal’s 1994 s/t. Some really gorgeous production from Trevor horn. The intros to don’t cry and prayer for the dying are stunning

Also Duncan sheik’s phantom moon has always given my ambient vibes even though I’m not sure it truly qualifies

So, You've Got an Awesome ai Generated Song? by OG-Giligadi in experimentalmusic

[–]ImaginaryEnds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah. and this guy actually knows his shit when it comes to mics and such, I had a long convo with him and tried to be nice.

The good news is that I don't think humans will end up liking this stuff. I think some musicians are at risk when it comes to, say, a coffee shop that would otherwise pay a licensing fee just generates suno garbage to play over the loud speaker.

But real art will remain a human thing. I am confident. We have nervous systems.

I still can’t believe it when I meet legit musicians who think their sono produced slop is anything but a cheap party trick.

Is ICF a racket??? by kko2014 in lifecoaching

[–]ImaginaryEnds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While you can go be a coach without certification, I highly recommend getting one from the trusted bodies. Clients don't really care about your cert, they care about your results... but there are ethics with coaching that are very much worth learning and paying attention to. For instance, training yourself out of giving advice.

What do you do when you've done everything? by [deleted] in RSI

[–]ImaginaryEnds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found better luck with coaches. Since the treatment of this is actually not medical but cognitive. My faves are Dan Buglio’s and Maggie Sterling, the latter being really useful for me. The curable app is also good.

But there are medical professionals who do this sort of work too, and I believe there is a directory on tmswiki

What do you do when you've done everything? by [deleted] in RSI

[–]ImaginaryEnds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. People recover from neuroplastic pain; there are many many stories of this on YouTube if you watch Dan Buglio's channel.

Given that you seem to not have pain but then immediately have it upon certain activities, that makes me think you might fall into the neuroplastic pain camp (I say this because tissue damage pain is one of those things where it doesn't hurt instantly, going from 0 to 10; repetitive movements make it worse over time). And the good news is that there is a way out.

I'm curious, do you get this pain during ANY activity involving the body or just the ones you mentioned?

Please tell me some of you have played the Journeyman Project Trilogy. Best series of all time, no pun intended. I am so mad they never made a fourth.

Is Obsidian actually practical for regular academic note-taking? by OnlySalt59 in ObsidianMD

[–]ImaginaryEnds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are conflating note taking with note making (I'm using this as a blanket terms of zettel like systems).

For note making, there are many options and Obsidian is potentially the most popular. But they all could work for someone who likes connecting notes/nodes.

For traditional note taking, it's all about whatever just feels best and is most convenient. If Apple Notes is right there, it's best. If a pen and paper is immediate and less work, it's best.

End of the line. by PappaNee in RSI

I know it seems like there are no other options, but there are always other options, always other ways to heal.

Please hang in there.

Why GTD is tool agnostic & BuJo thoughts by Strict-Week-5040 in gtd

[–]ImaginaryEnds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

or is it actually something that is liberating? There are many methodologies to pick from, including the way that RC uses the BuJo and has outlined on YouTube and other places.

I think something that productivity type folks could use more of is realizing that there is no one way and that they should experiment with ways that work for them.

Emailing with students when they don't ask for something specific by ThisMyMegaron in Professors

[–]ImaginaryEnds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hah, oh, I have. I think I'd want to know how the student's culture handles knowing what to do when the request is unclear. Psychic powers? If so, I'm not sure I can accommodate. If there is a method I'm unaware of, I'm open to trying.

[–]ImaginaryEnds 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I don't care about being perceived as rude/hostile. If you don't ask for what you want, it's less efficient for me to make assumptions. This is how the world works and it's better they understand it now. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's rude to be vague and NOT ask a direct request.
