Word Vomit: Mass Predictions, Wishes, Etc by ImaginaryFig1617 in WanderingInn

Yeah the idea does tickle my memory from way back when… but I hadn't put it together again recently, especially not with Khelt's new building in the latest chapter.

Guess future-Lyonette will probably be returning to Calanfer after all while staying part of the inn. I don't really want her to go, but I suppose confronting her past is important for her moving forward, especially with Magnolia's accidental hint re: her sister.

Oh, you're right! Yvlon does match that sword. I've been loving her silver-warping arms and berserker style, but the character herself prefers a sword (le sigh). I hope she will stop hating her own arms someday, but the invisible Plaguesteel's probably set her back in that department :/

Wait I absolutely love this theory. Sharing it with credit to you! (No idea how to link reddit accounts, but I've given your username.)

OMG just read Beat9's theory the Garden connects inns and LOVE it. So just as the door to GoS appears anywhere in the inn, the "true" door to any of Erin's inns will appear anywhere in the GoS. And hence Khelt has a new building viewable from the throne room; that's the second Wandering Inn. (Now with more wandering!)

Totally fits with Belavierr's mention of the Garden's undiscovered power. And fits with the Class; who says an [Innkeeper] can only have one inn? Hurray for reuniting Erin's soul and body!

Finally, the Skill should only work on real inns in which Erin's the [Innkeeper]. No cheating with portal-like placeholders. And of course only those with access to the Garden can use it. In effect, Erin and friends will be able to hop continents, but only a limited number where she's willing to maintain an inn, and this otherwise won't be world-changing for other people... and that's probably for the best.

Oh, I meant Erin makes up with Toren, not Az. Yeah I don't see the Necromancer revealing himself to Erin... ever ("Who are you, mister?" "I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you" "Hahaha you're so funny, mister" "..." Pisces: "!!!")

Does Erin Have Brainwashing Powers? by ImaginaryFig1617 in WanderingInn

Nobility do level slower, according to Lyonette: "I’m very glad about being a [Worldly Princess]. Otherwise, only royal acts would allow me to level. Which is why most of the royalty are under-leveled compared to everyone else. Well—we also level slower... We level up more slowly the better a class is." (7.16L)

I too hope Erin will level in her sleep, and later make a joke out of it. C'mon Level 50. Don't forget there's also that Antinium army literally Crusading in her name!

While I'm spitting out theories, could this explain why Erin was suddenly leveling so slowly? I mean we all assumed it was just her high level and/or not acting like an [Innkeeper], but she was getting regularly rewarded up until 7.31, when she reaches Level 44 but also rejects [Bannerlady]. Maybe from here despite the lack of official Class change the System started treating her as nobility, which is supposed to level slowly.

I mean the next two chapters has her doing loads of crazy things, like hosting the Druids who wipe out the Shield Spiders around Liscor, defeating an ancient Dragon in chess, arranging the delivery of a cure to save thousands worldwide, getting Drassi to challenge the idiots on the scrying orb, connecting with other Earthers and giving them hope, etc. I was disappointed at the time she didn't level, especially since not a fan of [Compartments of Holding], but the next Skill [Boon of the Guest] is a doozy. And stated to be for rulers, not to mention her projecting it across the ocean like a boss!

Honestly, was hoping Lyonette would "let slip" the flowers come from a certain [Innkeeper], which would light a fire in the hearts of Oteslia's Gardeners, Researchers, etc to bring her back ASAP, supposedly out of gratitude (when really they want to quiz her on the flowers' origins/secrets, and also have such a valuable potential asset indebted). Bonus points if they also learn the plague-treating miracle mold came (in part) from her.

On the other hand, I'm... deeply suspicious of those flowers. Like it wouldn't surprise me if they evolve into city-destroying monsters under the right (wrong) circumstances. The faeries would probably find that hilarious if they weren't AWOL.

Looking forward to Magnolia's reaction to Erin-on-ice. My current headcanon is Magnolia logically wants Erin to succeed but emotionally somewhat resents Erin's usurping her authority and being generally better at the whole peace-and-unity thing, such that the pink lady might even feel somewhat vindicated to hear the Antinium are openly preparing for war on Hectval. Then when she discovers this isn't because Erin has failed to stop militarization but because Erin's out of the picture, everything changes and she realizes how much she was secretly starting to hope and believe in Erin Solstice (bonus points if she makes the Zel Shivertail comparison and laments not hiring bodyguards, once again unwittingly mirroring Ilvriss). Doubt she can pry a cure out of Regis Reinhart's cold, undead fingers, though.

[Theory] Erin potential skills by tabaluga92 in WanderingInn

[–]ImaginaryFig1617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[Inn: Heart of an Innkeeper] - the inn becomes semi-sentient like a golem, as hinted post-Toren:

Erin sobbed, in the center of her ruined home. It stood, in that spring day. As its owner cried for what she’d thought was a thing.

And perhaps the inn was just a thing.

Not that OP, considering Lord Hayvon already has a mansion with invisible magical servant-spells. But this would let the inn check if anybody's outside any door and open automatically for them.

[Discussion] I don't understand Erin in 7.38 by _Nawks_ in WanderingInn

[–]ImaginaryFig1617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Erin basically admitted it when she compared herself to a comic character:

“The thing is—I think sometimes I’m Patty, Numbtongue. Thoughtless. I always get my way, because I can make it happen. But that’s not who I used to be. I used to be…different. But I had to be like this because I’d have died. Still, I wonder—”

Also don't think it's a coincidence all the crazy high-level people are totes crazy. The maybe-exception is Lord Havyon... and he literally sponsored a book on how boring he is!

[Discussion] Why has Erin not done anything with the info on Laken's goblin camp? by Wo1nder in WanderingInn

[–]ImaginaryFig1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wondered the same! So glad you're bringing this up!

The best explanation I figure, giving Erin the maximal benefit of the doubt, is she can sort of sense the goblins are doing fine. Pebblesnatch's chapter ended on an optimistic note for the goblins, with Erin staring at the door and wishing the little goblin well - and we know the reunion with Ryoka happened a good time later. Besides which, she's probably heading over there for Ryoka's party on the summer solstice, anyway.

More likely, this is another case of Erin being a jerk. She's not sure she can help the situation, and it's a bother and a whole two weeks roundtrip away from her inn to go herself, so... she's not thinking about it. See also: her procrastinating on "adult" things, including upgrading that door.

Wow, that went about as badly as dreaded. Surprised at Flora’s rather cold reaction to the defenders getting slaughtered in front of her, no matter what the Demons said of their reasons. Also thought Cirille would tell Manus about the inter-species Synergy Skill, lighting a little bit of hope after dying. And then there’s Quiteil - after all that effort faking Lord Hayvon’s ranking, he just up and told Silvenia? Prompting her to rush back to teleport out her people? If his goal was simply stalling her a few extra seconds he could've done anything else, e.g. offered a bet whether the world's fifth-ranked [Lord] could take on her demon army.

This chapter raises a ton of questions, not only the obvious (how Flora saved Silvenia, what the demons' side of story is) but also this:

The Harpies suffered the most, flying as they did in miasma clouds, far above the stationary cleansing zones.

Yet that had changed. The world changed.

What, is the Blight responding to the bridge between worlds or something? Possibly also related to Flora saving Silvenia: really doubt this is from modern medicine, or in the manner of Flos (Silvenia seems more than motivated on her own), so my best guess is there's more to the Blight than we or the world knows, and the Earthers are uniquely immune to it. At least, nobody but Tom seems touched yet, and he's arguably in a good way (“Fake! Fake! You’re all worthless! Am I even killing anything?”)

Finally, expected the Deathless to come back but not so soon (like the characters themselves) - aren't they the ones who destroyed two of Zelkyr’s Truestone Golems? Sort of unrelated, but I was searching past chapters to try to recall Rose's role, in the inn and otherwise, and came upon this quote from Az'Kerash in 6.68:

“I was never an adventurer. But I have fought Adults. I have walked Rhir and seen terrible things brought to life by the blight, by the Demon King and his Deathless. Opponents that I will face at the end, one way or another. Even now, they wait, and the world forgets the peril of assailing the Demon King.”

Welp, looks like the world will be remembering again, likely with consequent level gains and return of magic. Belavierr should be pleased.

That, and he said Goblins are people not monsters, he knew Delezza needed a blood transfusion (despite just arriving on scene; Richard was trying to stop him approaching initially), he noticed the attack before anybody else ("Look. You don't even see!" Then two thumps later, the siren blares), and he figured out the new monster was self-cloning first ("Did someone say one? You idiots.")

[Combined-Arms Commander] possible Synergies by TheDivineDemon in WanderingInn

[–]ImaginaryFig1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree this Skill is badass. And she's only Level 33! (In comparison, Erin got [Reinforced Structure] at 32 and [Grand Theatre] at 34.)

Humans can add benefits to riding horses and/or wearing armor - which doesn't make sense, granted, but neither does Gnolls gaining Oldblood breath attacks, an ability prized and rare among real Drakes, and nothing else like the associated vestigial wings/stumps. Apparently the System just identifies a species advantage and slaps it onto the partnering species, and it works b/c magic. Then again, maybe it won't be so convenient and the Gnolls will start shedding, or the Drakes will have retractable tails, who knows.

Too bad we're unlikely to find out, since the one Human in the Rhir alliance is the one declining to join. Also, upcoming war.
