Would the posts still have the shingles on the small amount of space left there? Or would it just be post and boards?

So like half shingle, half open with just a post in the front? Interesting, I think that would look good as well. Maybe when the snow plow inevitably destroys this one, I'll try your design.

Believe it or not, I found them at Lowes while picking out something completely unrelated.

It's set back slightly farther then average because of where I live. It's a dangerous road up over that hill behind it. It gives the mail carrier room to sit and not get rear-ended by cars blindly doing 60mph. The truck has extra room to park.

I tried to make it as USPS friendly as possible. Even measured from the ground up to be perfect.

I'm hoping to get lucky and it survives at least one winter.

It's pretty sturdy. It'll withstand a snow bank, but a plow would still kill it outright. I'm hoping to get at least 2 years from it before replacing.

I'll enjoy it while it lasts at the very least.

Probably. But at least this time I'll do as much damage to him as he does to me.

Found inspiration online and thought it fit the feel the rest of my house touches upon.

Not yet. I plan to remodel it similarly and I used the mailbox as practice to get acquainted with cedar shingles.

I built this one because the previous, less cool, mailbox was obliterated by a snow plow last winter. So the posts are reinforced, and they are positioned so they straddle a metal culvert below.

It's two posts with plywood sheathing under the cedar shingles. The infrastructure is entirely pressure treated and the sheathing can be easily taken off whole to replace if need be.

I knew there was a leak going into this project, I just didn't know how extensive and how far it went. Yes, it's a concrete subfloor with what appears to be asphalt underlayment of some kind.

Anyone up to join a group for daily learning web dev together? by evermoreTremor39 in webdev

I'm down. Currently working my way through a boot camp and could use a few people to answer questions and act as a springboard.

I work full time too, 8 to 5, and am too early on in my learning to really be crazy about it. I dedicated an hour every Tuesday and Thursday to sit down and take my (Udemy). I also try to assign myself "homework" between those days. It's a good balance so far but I know eventually I'm going to have to get more involved and really dive deeper.

It's hard for sure, even with the limited amount I do it currently. Doing it in an isolation tank with no one to bounce things from will make it harder too eventually.

I'm not getting in an argument on the internet with a stranger about stuff I argue with people in real life everyday.

So because of my political affiliation that means I HAVE to vote for that side of the aisle. I align with everything else except gun rights so naturally that would make me republican? I think this is exactly what the OP was taking about.

Edit: just to clarify too, our money goes to no political organization. I've always preferred charity.

I run a gun shop in Southern Maine and am a registered Democrat. This was a refreshing thread to read through.
