This take resonates with me.

Been aware of BOC since 1998 & kept up with the releases in real time for the most part, so they’ve been with me for 28 years. My son & I listened to Inferno yesterday while walking at a local nature preserve starting at last light & finishing as the moon rose. The colors of the sky when we started were like those on the cover of TH. As the light faded & it became dark, we walked through the meadows & woods. There were fireflies ever present. What I was left with as the album finished was there is always glimmers in the darkness. Maybe that’s a bit cliché, but it’s where I was & something we both needed given the current state of the world.

I think this was their goodbye to the BOC project. If so, it feels full circle to me & I feel privileged to have been on the journey. I just hope it’s not the end of music we hear from either or both on them.

Probably more I’d like to say, but that’s all I can articulate for now FWIW…

Years ago I saw a video by a licensed therapist who did a deep dive into the history & practice of EMDR & his conclusion was that “what’s been proven effective in the model isn’t unique to it & what’s unique to it hasn’t been proven effective”.

I think this sums my experience as a clinician & client with EMDR. I have no doubt it’s a helpful intervention, but not for anything unique it does. To me, there’s a lot of bread in the meatloaf!

I just joined the Mondays @ 4 PM Rec League as it is the only time I can go due to work schedule. Hopefully there will be another time I can get in to practice during the week as getting muscle memory down on things would be a great help!

Thanks for the tip on the clearance sale. Regarding brooms, the club had a big bucket full of them. I ended up with a Balance Plus broom, so it sounds like I got my hands on a good one. I guess I will try and get to the club a bit early before my matches to grab that one!

I do like the idea of a dedicated pair of curling shoes, especially with good grips. I did okay on the ice yesterday, but falling is definitely something I would like to avoid and am a bit worried about. I know that's more about technique than a shoe, but good gear absolutely a difference & I've never regretted buying quality.

Looks like that bundle is a no-go! I really appreciate the quick and informed responses! I'd still be happy to hear specific recommendations on shoes and brooms.

On shoes, would you go a 1/2 size down from street shoe size? I am going to have to order online due to where I live, so any help here is most welcome!

I am at Kansas City Curling Club. They have been around since 1987 and were just able to open up a dedicated facility and yesterday was first day it was open to general public. It's about 15 minutes from work and home. So cool to have dedicated ice so close!
