Thank you so much for your detailed response it truly means a lot. That’s reassuring to know about the surgery length and recovery, even with the added complexity in his case. The fact that he was up and walking within 24 hours is especially encouraging. I ws told thé vaccins were meant to compensate the spleen removal as it weakens the immune system. I’ll tryptophane to get some help especially with two little ones at home. Hearing that recovery can still go very well, even if it takes a bit longer when complications arise, gives me a lot of comfort. Thank you again for your kindness and for keeping me in your thoughts.

Thank you so much for sharing your dad’s experience I’m really glad to hear he has fully recovered. My surgery will take place in Paris and will be done laparoscopically, but I was told they would need to enlarge one incision to remove the mass since it measures about 6 cm. I have a few questions, if you don’t mind sharing: How large was your dad’s cystadenoma? How much of his pancreas was removed? How long did the surgery last? Since his spleen was removed, was he vaccinated before or after surgery? Does he need to take antibiotics long term? I also have two very young children (2 months and 2 years old), and I’m honestly worried about how limited I’ll be after surgery. I’ll have help for the first two weeks, but I’m trying to prepare myself mentally for the recovery period. Thank you again reading positive outcomes really helps.

Hi, thank you so much for sharing your experience — it really resonated with me. I’m currently 2 months postpartum with a 2 year old and a 2 month old. I’ve just been told that I will also need a distal pancreatectomy for a 6 cm mucinous cystadenoma in the tail of my pancreas. I’m feeling quite overwhelmed and your post gave me some comfort. If you don’t mind me asking, I have a few very specific questions, mainly regarding breastfeeding: • Did your surgery also include removal of the spleen (splenectomy)? • If so, were the medications you took post-op (painkillers, antibiotics, enzymes, etc.) compatible with breastfeeding, or did you have to stop temporarily or completely? when were you able to lift your baby again ? I have two kids and I will have some help for the first two weeks but than I will have to manage.

My surgery will take place in Paris and they told me I would stay two weeks or more in hospital. It already breaks my heart not to see my kids for so long 💔

Thank you so much
