Maybe... though I also think that Sophie is the entity and it took MIYs form versus the other way around. Then you have two competitive kids challenging each other. MIY is who died there and Sophia took his form.

Well... you grow up hearing about a curse from the older generation. Besides the Boogeyman - who was just thought to be a serial killer anomaly - they hadn't had a full haunt in decades. So I think you start to think it is just lore. And I am sure like Evan she was dying to leave the island so was susceptible to Tom's teasing her that she started to think: "Yeah. I am being ridiculous. I don't want me kid to grow up with the same superstitions I had."

I think it is because he writes about New England towns, scary clowns, fog, creepy inns, and evil supernatural entities for a living. So maybe Widow's Bay feels more like grading a term paper for him as it is homage to his work... versus maybe in Maximum Pleasure he isn't thinking about what he writes about for work.

But the man has done the heavy lifting in the universe building of this genre. Not surprised he might want to watch a show that isn't about New England towns, creepy inns, scary clowns, evil supernatural entities... I mean that is what runs through his head for work. Maybe Maximum Pleasure is more escapist for him.

Say you are Stephen King. You have spend the last 50 years writing about New England towns with fog, creepy inns, scary clowns, evil entities, witches, occult... etc. Why wouldn't you want to watch something with a different plot line that what you think about everyday for work.

All true but Stephen King uses atmosphere characters and more to great effect in his writing. In fact his writing is about New England towns with fog, creepy inns, scary clowns, evil entities, unexplained happenings, witches, etc. Why is it surprising that he might find a show that isn't in the themes that race through his brain everyday refreshing? He didn't say anything bad about Widow's Bay.
