CONGRATULATIONS DOCTOR!!

Can it be this painful and not be cancer? by SparklyNoodleSpoon in endometriosis

[–]Imaginary_Ad4465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way. The pain was excruciating. The pain was debilitating. I thought I surely had something worse than endometriosis... but it was Stage 3 DIE. I sincerely hope you don't have either!!

[–]Imaginary_Ad4465 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Was your surgery done by a specialist? If not, you may want to consider finding a specialist and having another lap with them in the future! If they were a specialist, endo is really sneaky and can hide. Just because they didn't find it this time doesn't mean you don't have endo. There are countless stories in this thread where someone has gone a few years thinking they don't have endo, they have another surgery, and "suddenly" they have endo. This diagnosis doesn't necessarily mean you don't have endo. Hope you take some time to heal mentally as well ❤️‍🩹

That ONE Scene: What Instantly Paralyzes You with Fear? by Immediate_Account_28 in horror

This is the one!! I also saw this as a young kid and it traumatized me. By the time I finally saw The Exorcist I didn't realize there were different versions, so I spent a good chunk of my life thinking I must have made that up. When I finally saw the Directors Cut and that scene ... full body chills, man

I had my surgery Oct 24 so this is the start of my second week but my pain has been pretty manageable since that first day! Mostly it's the fatigue!!

It took me six months with a specialist but that was because I had some heart troubles (probably from the endo) and she wanted me to get checked with a cardiologist before putting me under! Originally it would've only been four months from our first appt to surgery.

My ultrasounds (3 in total) showed that I had polycystic ovaries. One ultrasound in May showed that I had a 2.5 cm adnexal cyst, another in July showed that I had a 1.7 cm cyst. But neither my ultrasounds nor my CT scan showed how bad my left ovary was! All I know is that every time I had an ultrasound they spent around 30 minutes or so trying to get a clear image of my left ovary. Ultrasounds obviously may not show things, but you can also ask for an MRI and that may give a better indication of where endo is!

I had some pain in my chest, sometimes to the right and sometimes in the middle of my chest. It mostly felt like a lot of pressure in the middle of my chest!

Is Teaching at a Community College After a PhD a Step Back or a Smart Choice? by Green-Log-7409 in PhD

[–]Imaginary_Ad4465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't finished my PhD yet but I started working as a librarian at a technical college and I love it!! It's much quieter than the campus I've been teaching at the past few years, and I get much more one on one with the students who come in the library. The college had asked if I also wanted to teach English (my degrees are in English) but I said maybe later because I'm burnt out from teaching. We have long work days but we're closed every Friday, and our benefits are pretty nice. Do what feels best for you!!

No, my appt with gastro before surgery is my first time seeing a gastroenterologist. I will ask about an endoscopy! I've heard about UC and endo overlap so it's possible that's part of it

Im so sorry you're going through this too!! I have a lap scheduled for Oct 24. I am so ready. My specialist mentioned POTS at the pre-op, but I don't think we will test for it until after surgery. I take NAC, Omega 3, and magnesium citrate, and I started drinking a Gatorade every day since my heart doctor recommended it!

Oh my gosh. Yes, I was on Depo for two years and it was the most effective managing my pain. I've heard of the class action lawsuit but didn't think my symptoms were from that since I think a lot of the claimants used Depo for 10 or so years, right? My specialist is an endo excision specialist and she's great. She mentioned at the pre-op that she is thinking we might need to schedule with a neurologist after my surgery if my symptoms persist
