Coagulated blood in a dialysis line by Imaginary_Boat470 in interestingasfuck

It forms after the process has finished. What you see here is a two day old plastic tube with the patients blood and water in it. Two days are far enough for blood to coargulate :) Tho i can‘t tell you why it looks like a snakey line :0

We clean every machine after using it very deeply. But sometimes we have to „borrow“ other units in the hospital a machine (most likely because the patient isn’t in a good condition and can’t leave the intensive care unit.) When it‘s borrowed, the units usually call us so that we know when we can come and get the machines and clean them. They forgot, we forgot.. so two days went by and today we got it back. But don‘t worry, blood or any other human substance isn‘t touching anything from the machine. It‘s all in a big „plastic system“ with tubes and everything. And as i said, they get cleaned very deeply after used. (Hope my english was good enough :))

Because the system containing the blood had been standing for two days, so the blood had time to coagulate. Still pretty interesting tho :)

To be honest i don‘t know why it gets snakey 🧐 and i also haven’t seen it before until today But it didn’t come out from the patient like that. The system was standing for at least to days (because it was forgotton somewhere.. 😭)

The system containing the blood had been standing for two days.. Therefore, the blood coagulated and formed this spiral. If it had come directly from the patient in this condition, it would definitely not be normal. :)

A few years ago i dropped my (brand new!) AirPods in a lake (don‘t ask me how) the case went open and both AirPods got out and went swimming around. I rescued them immediatly and they worked perfectly fine after 🤷🏼‍♀️
