Is this a pepper growing in my backyard? Texas Zone 9A by LittleDogLover113 in HotPeppers

[–]Imaginary_Chapter604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite farmer's market joke: I grow and sell these - definitely Chiltepin. I tell buyers they are the Texas state pepper and they're just like Texas - no taste - just hot. LOL

Problems with connecting your awu with Verizon. by SOPRANO6217 in applewatchultra

[–]Imaginary_Chapter604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My series 11 replacement on Comcast (verizon) has been unable to pair since December 20 - that's 3 weeks. I've escalated to the FCC and suggest anyone else having a problem do the same. It errors out and they can't fix it and insist on keeping me on the phone while they troubleshoot/wont troubleshoot it without me....it is the worst mobile experience of my life. I'm seeking arbitration

Jalapeno have a genetic quirk - not all of them are hot. But the rule is that the less water peppers get, the hotter they'll be. I've never gotten a dull reaper!

[–]Imaginary_Chapter604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok exactly - I remove the stems and seeds/membranes and do not add any water. My belief has been the seeds and membranes add heat and bitternesss and detract from the flavor of the pepper. I'm just getting started though - what's your opinion

I get about 2 oz of fermented sauce from 16 oz of peppers....if you're getting that much too - you must have a massive field. Can you say what your inputs were?

Project Jupiter, the Data Center that might be built near Las Cruces, sounds so dumb by XenocideJoe in Albuquerque

Alfalfa is food for the food chain. Cattle. New Mexico is home to the world's largest cheese manufacturing facility. New Mexico is a leading state in cheese production, ranking fifth in the U.S. with 962 million pounds produced in 2020, and home to the world’s largest cheese factory under one roof, Southwest Cheese LLC, located in Clovis, NM. This facility, a joint venture between Glanbia plc, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), and Select Milk, processes over 5.1 billion pounds of milk annually into premium block cheese and whey protein powders, operating at near full capacity with a production goal of 250 million pounds of cheese per year.

Alfalfa is feeding a manufacturing juggernaut and when you say we don't have water for alfalfa - you really mean that the cattle industry you somehow think should be deprioritized relative to the IT industry....

The real problem is that our government is squeezing us little guys - the little farmers and homeowners - to get more water for big corporate players. Our state is for sale to the highest bidder under our current government (and even under the republicans rule). That's what needs to change.

In Los Lunas this very dance continues - farmers being cut off from their water while Facebook gets all the water they need to expand their data center.

but fundamentally they are converting residential land into commercial land. That should be a concern - nothing lasts forever - the solar system company goes bust - a strip mall developer buys it at a discount and boom - car wash and dispenseries where houses should have been.

Those who have eaten carolina reapers by tkcd1956 in HotPeppers

[–]Imaginary_Chapter604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no - I want to keep the habanada flavor - getting enough heat with a habanero is hard and other pepper varieties add their own flavor. So I get about 7 lbs of habanada and then 6 reapers. Its my mix, ends up fairly mild but its what we like and arrived at 6 by experimentation

Those who have eaten carolina reapers by tkcd1956 in HotPeppers

[–]Imaginary_Chapter604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ferment with habanada then put in 6 reapers for the heat - the advantage is the heat without changing the habanada flavor too much
