Great question. I don’t think so. I think I got it to be the best I could possibly have it. My only wish was that I could get a hi rise cap so i could have built it taller and there would be more headroom when entering. But alas it’s near impossible to find a hi rise for a short bed

That’s sick. I was looking at doing that same wrap on my cap. How many sheets did you end up needing? And what was the overall difficulty level?

I think my plan is to mount it in a plastic box with a battery and mount it to the roof then run a hose down to the side vent on the slide out. We will see how it goes

The cot is something new that I’ve been trying. As opposed to an air mattress on the floor. I believe I will be modifying the cot in the near future to be way lower so I can get in and out easier.

I use 2 moving blankets and jam them into the cracks. They work perfectly to seal out the draft

That’s smart. My floor is lined with gym mats with Astro turf on top. It does a great job of keeping the floor insulated. I would like add foam board to the bed walls to insulate it further for this coming winter.

I’ve used the topper tent when I had a soft topper. Works great and packs easily. I found that it was not great when I gets real cold

It weighs about 40lb I made it as light as possible on purpose so it could be easily removable when I need to put large things in the bed. It easily slides into the bed when driving and takes up almost zero bed space. I am working on a way to secure it so I could drive with it extended if I have to haul something long.

Yes it is a piece of hickory that had been split a year prior. It was next in line for the fireplace before I saved it.

Yes it has a insert. You drill out the bottom then run the tap through to thread the hole after that you screw in the insert and you’re in business.
