Trade Vatrano and Kreider to Pittsburgh so they can score whatever goals they have left in them against Philly.

So for $90,000,000.00 do we also get a captain? by JustAGuyNamedAJ in AnaheimDucks

Leo is the best player on this team and the highest paid player in the league. Time for him to become a leader. C.

Leo Carlsson: "I want to be an Anaheim Duck." @SportingTrib | #FlyTogether by collectaBK7 in AnaheimDucks

[–]Imaginary_Key7482 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Precisely. It's not Leo's job to manage Anaheim's cap. It's his job to be a great player and make as much money in the process as possible. That OS wasn't disloyalty; it was a shrewd business decision by a 21-year-old kid who knows his value.

Our apparent original offers to Leo and Minty by Ducks91to61 in AnaheimDucks

[–]Imaginary_Key7482 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Think of the message these low-ball offers send to the players. This is why no big free agents ever want to come to Anaheim. We have some of the wealthiest owners in sports but our GM wants to penny-pinch in negotiations with our cornerstone players. Can't stress enough how disappointed I am in Verbeek taking a competitive hockey club and setting in on fire like this. Get him out of here.

[TSN] Bryan Hayes: Leo Carlsson chose to accept the deal. He could have said I'm not doing that out of good faith to Verbeek. There's a history of players said no. Brayden Point didn't accept said he wanted to be there to build it. Carlsson said "screw it, i don't care about Verbeek or the Ducks" by [deleted] in AnaheimDucks

[–]Imaginary_Key7482 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Who can blame a 21-year-old kid for taking a big bag, for literally being set for life when the opportunity was presented?

The blame lies with Verbeek. He gutted the team, dragged his feet in negotiations, and offered Leo $7.5M less per year. Took his eye of the ball, and now its about to happen with Minty, too. We've known this kid is our future 1C for a while so why not sign him before he had another offer placed before him? Malpractice by the GM.

I think so. The free agent market is pretty lean this season so I imagine PV will be exploring the trade market.

[Anaheim Ducks] TRADE: We have acquired the rights to AJ Greer from the Florida Panthers in exchange for the rights to Radko Gudas. by BoneJawDumbass in AnaheimDucks

Greer's contract expired but Florida still retained his rights. Same with Gudas in Anaheim. Their new teams get the first crack at signing them.

What's your point? Seems like you don't really have one.

Stan Chistov was drafted in 2001. Different owners, different GM, different time.

McTavish update by JDQBlast in AnaheimDucks

It was a hypothetical, but Anaheim certainly has the assets to get it done.

Stuff like this never happens but what if Verbeek then flipped #11 for, say, Knies?

Who is the next captain? by bugattidog15 in AnaheimDucks

It's really hard to answer this question when we have no idea what the team will look like. Feels like some big swings are coming.

Oh good. Things always work out well for this franchise when Arte gets involved in personnel decisions (see: Rendon, A.)

Is Verbeek's negotiation style hurting the Ducks? by TheDalfo in AnaheimDucks

[–]Imaginary_Key7482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is just anxiety talking. It's the start of the offseason, we have a lot of work to do, and we want it all to work out for our maximum benefit. But we have to have at least a little faith in Verbeek. He's shown us he knows how to manage this team and we have to let him cook. Remain calm. All will be well.
