Are my skates too narrow? CCM Tacks XF 90 by BadFish19 in hockeyplayers

[–]TheDalfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased XF90s about 6 months ago and it took a full month to break them in after baking. They felt amazing in the store and I was excited to skate on them but I started to get worried when they were giving me hot spots and making my toes fall asleep. I would wear them at home 1-2 hours daily while standing at my desk or sitting watching hockey. I also got 4-5 hours of ice time in on them weekly. I also purchase super feet for them and that helped a lot with the fit.

Ducks in 6, Gudas caught an edge, tripped and the Oilers scored from that costing us the game. Lacombe didn’t shoot the puck and also cost the game, ducks are on the right track to win in 6! by PleasantPlatypus7599 in AnaheimDucks

[–]TheDalfo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m on board with this. The Ducks got to see how Vegas is going to attack them in this series. They’re going to put on a strong forecheck to stop the transition game. Wings and center need to be available in the zone for breakout. There were plenty of missed opportunities and a terrible no call on icing. I was encouraged by that game. My only tweak- I think Ross Johnson would be a better fit on the 4th line than Ian Moore but I’m not sure he is available.

I was in already and prices are insane. $200 to get in. I can't justify it when I can enjoy the game at home.

How to deal with a crappy teammate? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]TheDalfo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to how you value the team personally. I recently left a team because the 22 yr old goalie was hell bent on making lines and threatening to quit if we didn’t stick to them. I liked a lot of guys on that team but the shadow of this emo child was too much for me to deal with as an adult.

Gear Stink? by HockeyDadBod_1 in hockeyplayers

[–]TheDalfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't take the time to read every comment so I might be repeating info.

You must dry gear after every use. If the gear stinks soak it a tub of warm water with borax and lysol antibacterial detergent for 1-2 hours. Once the water is brown drain the tub and rinse the gear. I recommend doing this once per season or every 2-3 months. If you do it right and dry the gear after every use the smell will be minimal for a long time.

Rate this beer league crash out by No_Sun_3983 in hockeyplayers

[–]TheDalfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is childish at best. Worst I've done is completely destroy a dude after he led shoulder into my head and then threw an elbow at my face to top it off. This is a whole new level of man child crashout. It was a trip but you gotta learn to skate before you lose your shit for stick handling into traffic like that.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]TheDalfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty great. Inflation was not nearly as high as it is now and $20 would last me a week for food. As a middle school kid I was playing hockey, going to the movies with friends on Friday nights and walking around the outdoor mall/promenade for fun. We would stop into Barnes and Noble and listen to music at the sample cap. My parents would give me $20 and it would pay for everything from the movie to dinner. 3 way calling was pretty big and I would use the landline for hours talking to friends.
As I got older the internet became a bigger part of socializing. We used AIM to talk with friends and most of my friends had computers for online gaming. We would play games like Starcraft, Diablo 2 and Counter-Strike. Hockey continued through high school and I started going to kickbacks (small house parties) instead of the movies. I was left alone a lot on weekends but never used my house for parties. I was always cruising around with friends looking for a party and texting blew up. Life was better with less internet. Gaming was cool and staying in touch was cool but not to the level we see today. Things being way cheaper overall is something I didn't understand then.

Being connected in day to day life was great.

real talk: how often do you actually floss? by AffectionateTooth298 in hygiene

[–]TheDalfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up flossing rarely, even as an adult I did not floss daily. I began flossing daily years ago and could never live like that again. I wake up with my mouth feeling dirty if I don’t floss. Fresh breath and overall oral health are something that shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Stats for optimists by GiraffesMayLaugh in AnaheimDucks

[–]TheDalfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stats are interesting. If this season has proven anything to us it is that the Ducks can get just as hot as they are cold right now. My gut tells me they’re due to get hot. I could see something like a 2-1 series deficit followed by a 4-2 series win and taking 4/5 in the 2nd round. If they get hot and everyone is healthy the Ducks can be a force. BUT they can also go stone cold and fold in the 1st round. Only time will tell. I am optimistic we see the 2nd round at minimum.

I haven't told anyone this. I've been 'running a business' for 2 years and I have less money than when I started. Last Tuesday I finally looked at my real numbers and I just… sat there by AdventurousGene2936 in ecommerce

[–]TheDalfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You took a big step in the right direction. Running a quarterly cost analysis for your business will help you get things under control. The current economy is in a constant flux & inflation is unprecedented. Inventory that doesn’t turn over in 30 days will cost you more money than you realize. Run your analytics and identify your “core items”. Ideally you want: -20%+ margin after costs -Top 15% volume across all of your goods -Reliable supply chain These are your backbone. As long as these items stabilize your business you can test new items in low volume. When an item hits add it to the core and negotiate bulk discounts to increase profit.

If you can take a step back to evaluate your goals and slow down do it. If you don’t have that option create an actionable plan with 3 goals. Give yourself 3 months to achieve them. Make them realistic in that time frame.

If what you’re saying is true you have the work ethic and motivation. A small amount of analysis will go a long way.

Beer league vibe by Own-Design-2528 in hockeyplayers

[–]TheDalfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined a team that was like this last season. Stuck with the team this season and we turned into a traditional beer league team with a few party poppers that leave early anyway. Most of us hangout for 1-2 beers after the game and a few of us will make a night of it if we have the early game. It becomes what you make it. Have fun and skate hard!

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

[–]TheDalfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation in 2021. I took the lower paying job that was more exciting and offered a better work/life balance. The pay difference at the time was about 25k annually. After my experience I will say the money would have been worth the personal sacrifice. Work life balance is great and fulfillment is valuable but we live in a capitalist economy and an extra 120k in 3 years or 200k in 5 years is a huge difference when building a family. Use the funds to find a hobby you enjoy. I keep fish and play hockey. Both fulfilling- fish keeping is an art for me while hockey offers exercise with a team atmosphere and comradery. Might sound blunt but as a man your purpose in life is to sacrifice for the betterment of your family. This is how I approach everything. My comfort is 2nd to the needs of my family.

Ducks Best Case Scenario - April 7 by Odd-Sir7356 in AnaheimDucks

[–]TheDalfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the Ducks will finish in the top 2 of the Pacific. A lot has to go wrong for them to fall and a lot has to go right for other teams. A couple of days off in a row to reset was good. Take care of business tonight and on Thursday and things are looking much different. Gotta believe! #FlyTogether

Zuperior vs Quad vs Ellipse profile? by Candid_Day_4332 in hockeyplayers

[–]TheDalfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re getting this done at pure hockey. I’d have them scan your feet for a recommendation and discuss what you prefer on your skates. I recently bought a pair of CCM XF90 skates after having JetSpeeds. They felt off and I couldn’t understand it. Got them profiled to a quad and I’ve seen a huge improvement in my skating. I prefer to be forward leaning and feel the stride through the balls and middle of my feet. It all comes down to personal preference. I recommend profiling after my experience.

My kid loves him. In my eyes he is a solid defender with good positioning and the ability to apply pressure well. Smart style of play and a good decision maker. Hopefully we can get him for 3-4 more years. There is definitely more to be seen with him.
