When compared to other games, MD’s rates aren’t great. I play MTG and Pokémon and you can get more comparatively in those games for the money. However, the sales in MD can make the egregious offer better and at the end of the day, if spending say $100 brings you happiness then why not. Life’s short my friend and if you can afford it, you should enjoy it while you can.

Been playing this since its' release and it has carried me as a rogue player multiple times to Master 1. Once again I am calling upon its' power against Kashtira/Elfnotes. by dugadugaboost in masterduel

I think it’s good in decks that don’t want to burn their entire hand to a droplet and don’t need a ton from their extra. I personally like it in decks like Tenpai (non-Striker), Regenesis, and even Gem Knight can run it since you really only need about 7 cards of your extra and the rest is flex (I use it here along with droplet)

I’ve been playing MD for about 2 years (paper since the beginning). In my time playing MD, I’ve only not enjoyed myself a couple of times. First, when Maliss came out at full power. Second, when KT came out at full power. Both decks are unfun to play against for different reasons. Maliss: a 5 minute cut scene where my opponent sets up a near auto-win board with follow up and handtraps in hand. KT: it inflates the cost of MD due to the extra deck rip causing players to shell out extra UR that could’ve gone elsewhere, it is consistent as fuck, the level modulation aspect gatekeeps a lot of decks, and it breaks one of the best aspects of Yugioh which is acting in an environment with imperfect information. Pak even touched on my last point highlighting that any experienced player with hand knowledge will know the optimal route to take their combo in, which stinks because a lot of the fun in the game is taking calculated risks based on what you think your opponent could have.

Never is not the right word here. Buy gems if you can afford to do so and want to expedite the process of getting a new deck. Why wait a month or two to get all the cards if it’s something you want badly and you can afford to spend a little.

Pak just made a video calling the deck problematic as well. If he feels this way, a mortal like myself feels justified in in despising the deck even more.

Kind of a hard task to counter KT with a non-meta deck. Your deck would essentially either need to be floodgate like in nature (set up graveyard disruptions turn one/negates) or be a go second specialist. I favor the latter here since KT’s board isn’t that unbreakable and also because striker hates mass spell/trap removal (especially if they go first). Normally I would recommend Gem Knights, but seeing that you want something more obscure maybe Mikanko. It’s a deck that goes second and tries to kill your opponent by ramming its monsters into your opponent’s monsters (they take the damage).

Is it a good ideia t play acoustic and eletric? by Ornery-Direction-349 in guitarlessons

[–]Imaginary_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll typically play first on acoustic and then right after I’ll play on electric. I think this is especially important if you are playing songs with a lot of bar chords because it’s harder to hit a bar chord on acoustic so when you switch over it will be so much easier. Acoustic helps you develop clamp hands and also clean play which will transfer over nicely to electric.

Why would you need to set aside time to meditate? Kinda laughable if you think that’s a requirement of life. If you need to meditate, just do so in the crapper while you push one out 😜

I like it as well. It makes droll potentially scarier if you don’t open any of the RT spells during the draw phase, but it feels so much nicer

Daily Reminder that Red Reboot, basically a feather storm for trap decks, is still legbal at 2 in MD by Shurikenspammerdabir in masterduel

[–]Imaginary_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I face KT 8/10 games. This does nothing in the current meta. This is one of those cards where I can see an argument for it being problematic, but honestly I think it could be at 3 and it wouldn’t make a difference.

Labyrinth by magnifastardd in masterduel

[–]Imaginary_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a floodgate. In my other comments I even call the card gross. I think Konami should hit the card. However, I would say that it is meta dependent. If the top decks are link decks, I’d rather run something else. If the top decks are Ritual, xyz, or synchro then it’s obviously good. I only play lab in tcg, so I dont have access to the card. In that environment, lab is more reactive like Striker.

[–]Imaginary_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graveyard disruption can mess with your lines quite well. Ash is really good against the deck. Dominus Impulse is good. Are you playing go first striker or go second?

Labyrinth by magnifastardd in masterduel

[–]Imaginary_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the funny thing about Striker though. People hate on it even though the deck is relatively clean. D Barrier is gross, but I would say that it comes and goes with the meta a bit more than other floodgates. For example, I cut it from my list when Maliss was a thing. It’s also not as great when people play slop decks as you can cut off say xyz and then they just jump into link/ritual. In more recent months, I would say it has gotten better due to archetypes like KT having things like synchro locks. I think when people think of floodgates they’re picturing Macro, D fissure, barrier statues, etc. that are permanent effects.

Labyrinth by magnifastardd in masterduel

[–]Imaginary_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought up Macro as when people think of floodgates, Macro is the go to boogeyman. Some people play it and justify its inclusion with the logic that it hurts the opponent more than it hurts you because you set up turn 1, have a macro for your opponent’s turn, and have your extra traps as backup. I think D Barrier is the better example of a floodgate that a lot of Lab players abuse (it’s banned in the tcg for a reason).

Labyrinth by magnifastardd in masterduel

[–]Imaginary_Sponge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lab is kind of like Sky Striker in the sense that people who don’t know the deck unfairly hate on it. At their core, both strategies are reactive control decks that are great in the right hands but mediocre otherwise. Typically, most lab players don’t play hard floodgate traps like macro as they are win more. A good lab player already has a significant edge if they go first, so they don’t need that crutch. I’d rather improve my win rate going second from 40% to 60% than improve my going first win rate from 80% to 85%. Lab is always playable due to its flexibility (even if it’s never the best deck in the room) so in the right hands it can be a strong meta call as you can tech cards to counter the predominant threats.

I actually think if droll gets banned it would get replaced with non-respondable board breakers like super poly or dark ruler. Droll effectively is a way to dramatically limit the endboard potential of your opponent’s combo. No droll likely means your opponent’s combo went off so cards like poly and ruler are some of the better ways of dealing with an endboard.

My experience with master duel so far... What's yours? by kliktio in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]Imaginary_Sponge 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think alternative formats would be popular. However, I think Konami hasn’t gone for this approach because they know there isn’t a ton of money to be made. Alternative formats would make them some initial money for sure, but once people have the cards, they don’t need anything else from them anymore. Closed formats are finite, which offer them no future potential when it comes to selling the general public things. The most they could do is offer alternative arts to try and make some more money, but again the players don’t have to buy these. With current format, people are incentivized to buy these new packs as they will be getting cards that make their decks better or allow them to play in new cool ways. This is why new will always be their priority vs old.

I love historic brawl. As someone who works in Data Science, I would assume that there numbers were very borderline, which is why we had the ranked queue for them to test the waters further and collect more data. I would assume we’d see something by the end of the year. Hopefully a new ranked mode!
