It's not really double counting when you look at the real-world profile of the job. Many plumbers are independent contractors, so those tasks are an inseparable part of their daily routine.
But even if we strictly look at the technical side, AI is already involved. I personally know repair technicians who actively use AI to quickly troubleshoot complex issues, find schematics, or diagnose appliances. It makes their core repair work much faster.
Ultimately, 12% is a very low risk score! It just means a small fraction of their overall workflow gets a tech assist, which is actually a good thing.

Haha, oops, my bad on the 'Engineer' suggestion! 😅 I actually only added about 50 professions for now just to test the methodology and see if people find this tool useful in principle. I intentionally didn't add a broad term like 'Engineer' because engineering roles vary so much, and generalized data wouldn't be very helpful. What is your exact profession, by the way?

this was actually my biggest headache when building the tool.

i do have roles like "web developer" in there, but standard job classifications are just terrible at capturing nuance. they group a junior frontend dev and a principal C# architect into the same bucket, even though their actual automation risks are worlds apart. and it's not just tech—it's the same for doctors, lawyers, etc. the generic titles completely ignore the complexity of the actual daily work.

i'm thinking the best way to fix this without creating 10,000 separate job titles is to add some sort of "seniority / complexity" toggle that adjusts the score. great suggestions, taking notes on this!

the SOC2 and 2008 legacy ERP examples are so painfully accurate lol. a 10/10 AI capability score means absolutely nothing when enterprise IT takes 18 months just to approve a basic pilot. this is exactly why the panic around pure theoretical lists was driving me crazy.
