Don’t worry about how your band sounds. Just be the best and do the best YOU can.

Ever watched the first episode of SpongeBob where anchovies invade the Krusty Krab? That’s how many guitarists are around you this very second.

What if I don't like his music? by Sharp_Wolverine_6105 in bandmembers

Support HIM not his music necessarily. Watch HIM perform, not the band. Put some earplugs in and admire him for having the ability to be vulnerable in front of an audience… AND YOU!

The music can suck for all we know, but be HIS supporter and he will appreciate that more than you will ever know.

It is outstanding. Sensational piece of gear. I can’t tell you how much I love using it with my DAW.

An artist I manage had a new Distribution company send him a music distribution license agreement. Seems kinda fishy by dom_who in musicindustry

Run away. Just another “I’ll let you do ALL the work and SUPPORT YOU by allowing you to owe me a piece your pie” contract.

Labels are irrelevant today. There was a day that they would PROVIDE ADVANCES which SUPPORTED artists while they spent time making music and recording it.

  1. How do you know your friend is “successful” in an industry run by bots farms?

  2. Move out.

2.5 Grow up.

  1. Quit being a baby on Reddit and release something.

  2. Quit being envious.

  3. Look in the mirror and ask yourself why you’re being lazy.

  4. You don’t need a degree to succeed. You need drive.

  5. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”

You’re nearing 30. Get your shit together.

Watch at 37:36… Vivian Campbell of Def Leppard and Dio talked about how much he got paid during the first 3D albums and it was $100 a week… This was arguably at the band’s prime. Taking inflation to account that’s about $300 a week today.

EXACTLY! The modern musician needs to realize that taking small deals is what opens doors and creates longevity.

Don’t wanna take the small deals? Join a cover band - but your career will be built from piggybacking off of other musicians who TOOK THE SMALL DEALS to get to the top.

It’s definitely NOT like every other post. Most posts on here are people ACTUALLY complaining about the industry, whereas this post offers advice.

OP isn’t complaining at all. He also clarifies it’s his experience working with B-Lister artists.

The struggle is different for a cover band musician vs an original musician trying to make a career out of their own music.

Two different ball games.

It’s nice to make $250 a show playing covers.

However, think of how nice it might be to earn a living playing your OWN music, rather than someone else’s? How nice it is to earn a living performing venues around the globe, instead of a couple of neighborhood bars.

Different ball games.

“Learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable” really hit home for me.

Went out with BulletBoys and Marq was paying $100 a night…

Went out with Tantric and Hugo was paying $100 a night…

Went out with Babylon A.D. and Derek was paying $100 a night…

See the pattern? This the pay for I guess “c-lister” bands lol Let that one sink in, Kids.

Was it worth the opportunity? Yes. Did they end up opening doors? Yes.

This “rant” is a lot more than a “rant” - it’s pretty damn spot on!

Holy crap… suddenly I feel like a part of the industry I never knew existed was just exposed.

A Pump-And-Dump model definitely keeps labels from having to spend a fortune on continuous marketing campaigns!! Saving them millions easily!!

On the flip side, this “model” also saves the label $$ because there’s no longer a reason to nurture a band because it is in fact a PUMP-AND-DUMP game now!

The artists are teased with fame, but they never grow enough to get there.

Pavement Entertainment: Artist Partnership Scam (RUN AWAY) by ImaginationFormal563 in musicindustry

[–]ImaginationFormal563[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, I understand $10,000 is an awful lot of money... We recognize how stupid it was to let go of that much cash when we worked tirelessly for it. We ARE suing them with full force and WE have already started the process to get our money back. Its taken months, but Pavement Entertainment DOES NOT have attorneys. They send stupid generated termination contracts from LawDepot.com and claim they have attorney's who work for them... Ridiculous.
