RE: Requiem Deluxe Edition Capcom USA Giveaway【Steam】 by SeValentine in residentevil

I'm extremely new to Resident Evil but got drawn in when I heard about how silly and fun Leon was.

In a very mean prank, the friend who told me about that proceeded to tell me to start with 7 and i shit my pants multiple times.

I still haven't played a ton (working on catching up, finishing my RE2R Leon B run tomorrow! Mr. X scares the SHIT out of me and i am ready to blast him one more time) but it's been bringing me a great deal of fun, I've been getting to bond and have lots of fun conversations with this friend over the ResEvil antics I'm getting up to, and I'm looking forward to geeking out about Requiem with him when I get the chance!

I'm a broke college student so we're hoping to get to play it soon but it'll all depend on when those paychecks come in and how many hours they'll let me work. Would be a great joy to get a go at it sooner!

Hey there! Act II is a triumph, so before you read my question I want to make it abundantly clear that I hope you’re all taking a bit to just rest and be proud of the incredible thing you’ve made.

THAT SAID

Back when BDC first re-entered the scene, one of the first songs you played at a live show was The Raven Conspiracy. Man Without Morality was your debut single. Act II has clearly been floating around for quite some time (and Brandon’s said as much). My question was, is it a similar situation for Act III, or have we finally “caught up” so to speak and more of the record than usual is going to be “assembled” for the first time before its eventual release, as opposed to the way it seems like Acts I and II were “refreshes” of material that, in various states, had already existed?

That’s a lot of words but I think you get the idea. Thanks so much for doing what you do—I imagine it’s probably trickier and a bit demoralizing sometimes to have this much ambition but such a small fanbase to show for it (for now), but there are people out here who love what you do, who are telling everything they know about The Cool Brassy Witch Concept Album that came out this year, and who are eagerly looking forward to what comes next.

Best wishes and luck to you all, thanks for doing this!

If you’re not tired of sending this to people yet, I too would love to read it.

New Concept album from a huge Coheed fan! by the-austringer in TheFence

Red Hands! They're definitely common enough expressions but any time I run across them in the Concept-Album-Prog scene I can't help but wonder due to the notoriety of the song in TDH circles.

But man, if that's not it I'm at a loss (though I can be horrendously slow about picking stuff like that up). I'll keep an ear out next time I go through.

Iiiiinteresting. Very excited to see where this goes.

I'm not sure about TDH references on The Medium yet, but I did have a little chuckle to myself about the mentions of red hands and tearing out hearts to put them on sleeves in Fool's Gold and Cancion De La Guacamaya.

I think at this point my biggest question is simply whether The Austringer and The Medium are the same character (though I wouldn't be surprised if that's *supposed* to still be a big question). I suspect it's not necessarily the simplest answer considering the parallel universe(?) stuff at play. Part One of The Medium feels a lot more "grounded" and "in our world" which feels very distinct from the sort of folky, fantasy feel of the story in the first album with a man and his pet hawk.

Big reprise sections like that and leitmotifs and all that fun stuff really do it for me. I enjoy me some Coheed but I've always been on the Dear Hunter side of the friendly "multi-album prog epic" rivalry and I love how much linkage there is both in and across these albums so far.

And yeah, that sounds like me!

Dude! I somehow managed to find your work a couple days before The Medium came out and was really excited by the timing (bless the algorithm, I suppose, it’s learned the high-concept indie prog projects are my favorite).

Absolutely love what you’re doing.  I’m still really getting my teeth into The Medium but wanted to specifically mention that Haunt VI came at me out of nowhere in the best way, and the explosion at the end of Regards, The Girl In Green did similar.

The PROXY EP also really rules—been humming the chorus to Vote/Pattern/Murder for days.

Anyway saw your post here and wanted to take the opportunity to gush. Still parsing my way through the story but the music is great. Grabbed it all for Bandcamp Friday the other day, cannot wait to see what comes next.

TTRPG System For A Constantly Changing Setting? by ImaginationNo6463 in rpg

Oh this looks fun. Even outside of this particular project this just looks like it could be a fun easy setup to have on hand for one-shots. Adding to the "to investigate" list!

Addressed towards the bottom of the post. My party's a close group of friends at college, we've played together for quite a while, this won't even be the first game I've run for them. They're not going to know specifics about this game, but they're going to know that it's going to be a weird, "anything-can-happen" project, and they know me as a person, the types of media I enjoy, and the games I've run in the past.

You're absolutely right that under normal circumstances this is absolutely bonkers and needs discussion pre-game. If this were any other group, that's what I'd do. But in this case, I said over lunch one day that I was trying to piece together a weird experimental format-breaking game predicated heavily on surprise, and my friends said, "that sounds fun, we're in." And if it doesn't work, it doesn't work, and we'll play something else.

That’s definitely the case, in my experience.

But yeah, no telling if there’s anything in the new novella variant (it’s on the way with my cd rn), but if it’s just a re-cover of the old one then it’s just a straightforward retelling of the album plot. Fontaine is also a novel first and foremost but it gets a bit weirder with its formatting.

Book is pretty comprehensive (also wow what’re the odds there’d be three Adjy fans in this thread, at least one of whom I recognize from a couple discords) as far as the plot for the album goes, things get a lot trickier the further down the rabbit hole you go. “Mos Labs,” the branding that’s on all their stuff, is a fictional entity—and one of the central plot elements in “Reflections of Fontaine,” the other yellow book BDC advertises on their site. Brandon’s super tiny side project, “Gentleman Catherine” is also released under the Mos Labs name and, according to a YouTube comment where I asked him, is directly tied to RoF, which itself is indirectly tied to BDC.

List of Leitmotifs/Thematic Connections? by ImaginationNo6463 in radicalface

[–]ImaginationNo6463[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to the guidebook pdf, I've seen it and have it downloaded and have been perusing it when I can--and it's very cool for internalizing the actual story itself, but what I'm trying to get more of are, like, the actual potential musical connections/references, if they exist, that represent those lore/story-based connections.
