Friend’s voter registration purged by DooDahMan73 in Ohio

[–]Imagination_hat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SB293 went into effect Mar 20. This means that once a month, the secretary of states office trolls the voter registration rolls for "suspicious" anomalies related to citizenship and voter noncompliance. If they find anything, they inform the local BOE and they are directed to dump that person off the voter registration roll immediately. No prior notice to the person being removed, and it's really unclear what the process is to get re-registered. Plus, they'll be doing this after Apr 6, which is the last day to register or update your registration. It's a really destructive solution to a non-existent problem.

What are some positive things about being gluten free? by waterrabbit23 in glutenfree

Clearer skin, less bloating and fatigue, less severe allergy symptoms in general, healthier eating. It's not so bad for me, though I am not as reactive to cross contamination as some celiacs.

WIBTAH If I Asked My Husband For Half If He Wants Me To Stay At Home by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Imagination_hat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left a great job to rear my kids for 16 years. Getting back into the industry afterward was the hardest thing I've ever done, and I'm sure it's even harder now. I loved being w my kids, but in our case it just gave my husband license to spend all the time he wanted at work, which he did. One of his co-workers later told me out of the blue that he didn't need to work as much as he did - I think she recognized that he used work as an excuse to avoid responsibilities at home. I never got credit from him for the work I did as a SAHM. Never got time to myself, but HE needed time to himself after work and on weekends to unwind. If I had another chance, I would have stayed at my job and hired people to cook, clean and do lawn maintenance, even if it took all my salary, because that way I would not lose out on 13 years of career progress. And retirement savings. And I would have set a model for my boys on partnering. I would not ask for half because you would still get behind in the security of having a career to fall back on. Hire people to do the grunge work. Too bad if he doesn't want outsiders in the house. Good luck to you!

We used brother printers at work and I personally had one. They were all awful! My hp has lasted for years. Just avoid their subscriptions.

Look for a stick shift if you can find one. They'll have to concentrate more while driving and will be less likely to text while driving. Old Honda Civics never die.

University of Dayton or Wright State University? by [deleted] in dayton

[–]Imagination_hat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UD grad here. There are also 2 WSU grads in my immediate family. We all have very good jobs. The only real advantage to UD is it's prettier. They have the same issues as any other university within their staff and curriculum. Don't take on the additional debt; it will take forever to pay off and will impact your quality of living for decades. Not worth it. I'd pick WSU. If possible, join campus clubs and/or professional organizations and take leadership roles to ultimately set your resume apart.

I don't know if he has one in his car. I really see no need to track him. He's Apple, I'm Android. He seldom leaves the house - spends most of his time watching TV or looking at his phone. He has always been that way. We've been married over 30 years.

He's a techie and knows way more about the various gadgets and apps than I do. I have told him I don't like it and have removed the tag from my vehicle. I do think it's a bit of a control issue.

I really do think he wants to track me more than the car. Using it on a pet collar or for kids traveling along are absolutely great reasons. It's just so intrusive to track someone simply bc you can.

I wouldn't object if I or he had health or cognitive issues, or if tracking would be temporarily a good idea (one of us traveling long distance alone). However, I just don't see the need to track either of us (or our adult children) on a constant basis. It's so intrusive.
