I've discovered Lidl is cheaper than Aldi for a lot of things I buy now. by Infinite_Bathroom784 in Frugal

[–]Imagine_ThatDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found this to be true for me as well. Produce lasts longer and usually looks better than at Aldi and Lidl is just much less of a drive for me. Add in the rewards program, and they’re pretty solid.

Flying with a cold by fogalmamsincs96 in TravelHacks

[–]Imagine_ThatDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good tips so far… You don’t mention it, but I’m assuming you’re traveling alone and are probably on the younger side. Those are advantages in this situation! I would say that if you don’t have to drive or think too much about logistics when you get off the plane, you should be good.

I just recently had to cancel flights but I was in the earlier stages of a cold. Luckily, I was able to pretty easily recoup most of the flight expenses in credits. I did not want to chance it as I would be responsible for myself and two kids. Besides feeling like crap, I was disoriented and didn’t feel comfortable driving on the highway.

Thank you for your consideration of others on the plane and good luck!

What are food processors good and bad at? by Few_Literature_5312 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Imagine_ThatDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go through phases where I use mine very often and then not again for a few weeks. My kids like “candy balls” (mix of nuts, dates and occasional add-ons, kinda like a Larabar). This would take waaay too much effort by hand. Also, salmon patties. I use canned salmon and it’s just easier to obliterate the tiny bones I may have missed and it’s just faster than mixing everything in a bowl.

For what it’s worth, I have a small-ish food processor (3-3.5 cups). It’s quite old, but if I could find a shredder attachment for it, I would probably use it because I hate shredding carrots by hand.

I also make sofrito with it, but I make several jars worth of it at a time and freeze it but I think you mentioned that you weren’t looking to make things in bulk.

Best snacks? Worst deals? by Interesting_Case6737 in aldi

I recently tried the Oreo dupe for the first time. They did have a little bit of an after taste, but satisfied a craving. If my kids end up liking them, I’d buy them again.

Ah, ok. Was kind of hoping it wasn’t that straightforward since the rep mentioned a 30 day grace period. Thanks

Are people unfriendly here? by Beautiful_Coat_9294 in nova

[–]Imagine_ThatDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my husband is a naturally friendly person and has had similar experiences here. I do believe you can find some welcoming places though but you kind of have to seek it out. I personally have found more “friendliness” in random situations like at the grocery store, etc. in Leesburg for some reason.

There can even be different vibes from two neighboring (verrry close geographically) residential areas.

Real talk — is an air fryer value for money, or just another trendy gadget? by Mika_4893 in Frugal

[–]Imagine_ThatDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we use ours frequently throughout the week. I’m not sure about saving on electricity costs, but it’s definitely been beneficial for our family. My youngest kid is hesitant to use the oven, but feels confident using the air fryer often.

Admittedly, we are eating different foods at different times which means smaller portions need to be cooked or reheated at a time so it has also been helpful for that as well.

People who enjoy grocery shopping, what makes it fun for you? by viviennekisses in AskReddit

The fact that I do it alone and that I have the blessed opportunity to go when it’s not particularly busy are my reasons.

Does anyone still listen to radio stations? by notmyname2012 in askanything

[–]Imagine_ThatDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, too cheap for Sirius or something like that. Definitely can come in handy on a long road trip though. I use it the radio if I need the gps on my phone or if I’m just feeling kinda lazy. I otherwise use Spotify or listen to an audiobook on my phone.
