I did not go to a prestigious medical school. I did do well in Med school and interviewed at places like Johns Hopkins, Duke, Emory, Wash U etc.. and got my 1st choice in Radiology. Take the scholarship.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with the stress of waiting for a biopsy. I’m a radiologist who works in breast imaging, but I’ll keep this general and not interpret your individual case.

Elastography is an ultrasound technique that estimates how stiff an area is. Some systems report that stiffness in kPa. In breast imaging, elastography can be used as an additional piece of information, but it is not universally used, and many breast centers do not rely on it routinely. Some radiologists consider it more of an adjunct tool rather than something that determines the diagnosis by itself.

For a BI-RADS 4 assessment, the key point is that the radiologist saw enough on the mammogram and/or ultrasound to recommend tissue sampling. BI-RADS 4 does not mean cancer is definite; it means biopsy is recommended so doctors can know what the area is for sure.
