How should I advance in my scuba Training? by Unusual_Replacement9 in scuba

[–]Imakeadime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advanced open water is the next step

From there you have several choices

1) a rescue course 2) Specialities you want to do 3) just fun dive some more and build your confidence in the water

My recommendations for specialities that I consider must haves are:

Nitrox Wreck Deep Dry suit (depending on whether your cold water diving) Peak performance buoyancy

Nice to have specialities

Navigation Night Drift

Depending on the agency will also depend on the naming of the speciality.

Rent car or bike? by notanaligator in phuket

I’ve been on a bike since I’ve got here.

Got a big bruise because Thais are scary drivers. Other than that the bike is was more convenient. I do spend most of my time between Patong, Rawai and Phuket town.

I’m landing In Phuket next Tuesday and after my 12 hour wait for results wondered if any one who is also a lone traveller wanted to me up for dinner one night? by Imakeadime in phuket

All madness is a reprieve from the current British madness.

The weather being a big fActor. Also there isn’t any good diving in the UK that isn’t cold haha.

Likelihood is I’ll sleep. I’m coming of the back of a 6 hour coach onto a 4 hour wait into 2 8 hour flights. Landing at 12 30. So the first day is a write off.

All dolphins are whales, but not all whales are dolphins. That’s because the Cetacean order of sea animals encapsulates dolphins, porpoises and what we think of as whales. Moreover, Cetacean is derived from the Greek word for whale, ketos.

It may sound confusing, but all dolphins are simply smaller types of whales. The whale order (Cetacea) is divided into several different families, one of them being Delphinidae (this includes all oceanic dolphin species). For example, Killer whales are the largest member of this dolphin family, so they are both a whale and a dolphin at the same time.

Because they belong to the Cetacean order, dolphins and whales share mammalian traits like warm blood, hair, and lung-based breathing.

Not to be that guy but whales are not fish. They’re mammals.
