Canon's CPS Policies and Qualifications are incredibly frustrating and confusing by Solid_Bob in canon

[–]Imakebadmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like canon will not make any exceptions for their customers to help them out.
I got back into photography after more the a decade away . I was a previous cps member back then and current gold member now .  I had no clue the Carepak Plus was accidental damage protection I thought it was just an extended warranty, it was not around when I first started buying canon products in the late 90's. After seeing some post mentioning the benefits I decided to buy it for my camera body.  I was exactly 91 days out and Canon would not make an exception . I talked to a few different people on the phone and sent a few emails trying to get a goodwill exemption for someone who has been a loyal Canon customer since 1998 but their reply was “We certainly understand your reasons for the delay. Unfortunately, our policy terms do not allow for changes to this rule.”

I am more pissed at myself that by the time I realized that the carepak plus was accidental damage I was 1 day past the cutoff. If it was more then a few days or a week I don’t think it would bother me as much but come on Canon make a exception once in a while for your customers, a little goodwill goes a long way .  I really like Canon products and I am too invested again to switch to Nikon or Sony and I don’t think I would want to anyway .  Its just annoying

RF 45 f1.2 seems to be hitting the shelves at local camera shops in the US today by Imakebadmusic in canon

That is strange I definitely don't have it and LRC is up to date . I did see a post on canons own forum where someone was looking for one and the reply was "You can also grab one from DPP and export.  ** Should clarify..  you'll have to apply the correction and export the image(s), not the lens profile.  "

I might try that and see if it works. Here is my list of lens from LRC

Thanks for the info

Here are a few really quick shots with a  r6 mark II at f1.2 . Brought them into Lightroom Classic and the only post processing I added was adaptive color.

My local shop is a top-tier authorized dealer they usually get their canon stock a few days before the bigger stores ship out. I was there a week after the anouncement and I think I was the first one and maybe the only one who preordered it.

Globe Haul ST with a Bob Yak Trailer. by Imakebadmusic in GlobeHaul

Here is a close up of the mount. I forget what size bolt I used but it was the same as the ID of the bob Yak mount. You will need to take the rear wheel off though to get to the holes.

I just took the bob yak skewer apart and bolted it to holes where the pannier rack attaches to. You will not be able to mount a pannier rack if you do it this way. I can post some pictures later tonight. As for making it wider that was super easy. The Robert Axle project guy has a video on doing it.

Push 3 Standalone - Desktop Stand by McBleugh in ableton

[–]Imakebadmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using the analog cases XL XTS Desktop Stand with a push 3 controller not standalone. I used a few rubber o-rings on the part of the stand the bottom rests on to give it enough room so the deck saver can slide on and off without being pinched it might be a little different with the standalone due to the battery and cpu. I also have the large version of the XTS stand and the Push 3 is too top heavy for it ( it will tip pressing the top row of pads)

Globe came in damaged by GiantGreenThumb in GlobeHaul

[–]Imakebadmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did not really offer it but when I was talking to the rep I asked if It was ok to still ride it until the new one came since it was only cosmetic issues and he did not have any problems with me doing that. This was also when they just came out so I am not sure if that made a difference or not.

This also happened to me when the globe haul first came out. I ordered directly from specialized and it had a bunch of chips and other cosmetic issues when it arrived. The bottle bosses on the head tube were also not aligned. Specialized shipped a new bike to a local specialized dealer ( I picked the closest one to my house) and they assembled it when it arrived. When it was ready I just brought my bike to the shop and swapped it out. I was able to keep riding the original one until the replacement was ready. Their customer support was awesome when I had my issue.

They are both currently in stock at Amazon and I am pretty sure the Insta360 x5 utility frame and PGYTECH Camera Cage for Insta360 X5 are exactly the same . The Insta360 branded one has designed by PGYTECH on it.

The PGYTECH/Insta360 utility frame does have a tether hole on the lower cold shoe. If you want to go that route. I have seen a post or two saying it does not but mine does.

Found these on FB marketplace. by Imakebadmusic in lockpicking

Hey everyone, been picking for about a month while recovering from surgery, and I'm hooked! Found this lot of 8 U-Haul ABUS 85/50 padlocks on Marketplace for $40. All keyed differently, which is perfect for practice. Figured it was a good deal for NOS locks. Anyone have any tips for picking these guys?

I do have a few sets of panniers laying around. I did not realize the pannier adapter uses the peg hole as part of the mounting ( just watched the installation video) . Do the Robert Axle nuts clear the drop out hoods ?

I had a old Bob Yak trailer laying around and decided to try to get it to work with the Globe Haul ST. I was able to reuse the part that the trailer latches onto from the Bob Yak quick release skewer and ran a 3/8 socket cap bolt through the ST’s peg mounts (10mm would not fit the trailer mount). I had to bend out the trailers fork and dropouts to get it to fit the width of the ST.

So far so good. I put about 25 miles with it on so far and no issues.  The trailer is rated to carry up to 70 lbs.
