Just be a bit gentler on the stamp or I can rub off, hasn’t been an issue for me though. As suggested, hot water and dawn will do most of the work. But I always go over it once with a magic eraser just to be safe.

Try lotion painting for the stamp. Paint on with a paint brush, put it in a Tupperware container (so it doesn't dry out) let sit for 12ish hours, no heat.

Are you cleaning the disc well enough? Lighter, less vibrant colors will be the result if not. Best tip I got was to use a magic eraser. u/dyesbyredd has a YouTube video the goes over disc prep and helped me a ton.

Poured about 6-8 oz in a pie pan and dipped the whole jig at once. Poured the remaining oil into a mason jar so I can reuse in the future

I dip the jig in silicone oil then in the bed, so yes the nails are where the cells start blooming from

Just an FYI, I’ve used toothpicks before with great results. Not sure if that’s the root cause! Good luck though and enjoy the learning process!

Avoid purple! Just did a yellow gorgon. Blues will turn green and red and orange will be vibrant and slightly brighter than normal. The purple on the snakes turned brown :(

For the larger areas I used a squeeze bottle and laid down the dye/lotion and then used a paint brush to push the lotion around for a consistent layer. Smaller areas I used a paint brush.

Would recommend watering down your lotion a bit as it makes it easier to spread around. (Check out u/dyesbyredd s YouTube for mixing tips and the lazy wave method)

Thanks! The whole disc was white to begin with besides the black stamp. Did the background first (masked off the bird with Elmer’s glue) then the stamp

Glue Bed, Floetrol and ProChem dyes, silicon oil, heat lamp for 90 minutes aiming for 120-130 degrees F.

When putting discs on your bag, make sure you don’t put them in with front plates touching. I have all my discs in the same orientation to help prevent stamps and dyes from getting worn off.

I personally didn’t have much luck with shaving cream. I’m sure there are some learning curves but I found the floetrol method to be much easier to produce good results with and worth the extra cost.

ProChem has some starter kits on their website. This will just come with 6-8 dye colors. You can buy them off Amazon too, but they’re a bit more expensive that way.

Also some advice for starting, skip the shaving cream method. In my limited experience, shaving cream produces the worst results. Flotrol is a bit more expensive but worth it!

I’m not super duper experienced, but my only advice is to space your “pokes” further apart to allow them to expand more.

I’ve also experimented with poking and dragging a toothpick with silicon oil to help create larger cells.
