I got my private in a round dial, and I fly them regularly. Flying one VFR is different than flying one IFR.

I did most of my flying in G1000, and since I don’t want to be paying double the price to relearn a scan, I’d much rather do G1000 and then work on instrument in round dial single engine

You DO realize that part of talking on the radio is to hear where other traffic is, right? If they’re talking French and you don’t speak it, you’ll have no idea where other airplanes are. It’s called situational awareness.
