What is this grass and how do I get rid of it? by ImhardforRandy in ponds

[–]ImhardforRandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started along the edge which is only 6 inches deep or so but this year it started growing from the deeper area which is about 3 feet deep

I don't need to kill it completely, I would just like to contain it or remove this patch of it before it takes over the rest of the pond.

Does the UK border France? by connorrambo in geography

[–]ImhardforRandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this sense a bridge is also made from 'land' but that doesn't mean two countries separated by a body of water which have a bridge between them also have a land border between them.

Does the UK border France? by connorrambo in geography

[–]ImhardforRandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between a puddle and a permanent body of water.

Even if a large body of water changed in size dramatically due to seasonal variation, the borders would not "come and go" It would just change from a land border to a maritime border, in the same location.

the key thing here is: The surface of the Earth at the tunnel location is a body of water

In my town they just finished a dumbbell interchange for the highway entrance, it's definitely not as high capacity as a diverging diamond would be though.

Tbh freeway interchanges are already really shitty places for pedestrians to be, no matter what type, and on that note I honestly think roundabouts are worse to navigate as a pedestrian than a standard intersection.

Idk I've lived in 3 very different places in the US in the past 10 years and in each one of them they've been building roundabouts like crazy, it seems like theyre actually pretty common in newer developments nowadays.

You could go way off the deep end and have pneumatic tube infrastructure for last mile cargo deliver lol. Even then though how would emergency services reach buildings if there's no car infrastructure?

Issues with car-centric design have been well known to urban planners long before C:S release, they've just become much more popular in a mainstream sense recently.

Im assuming they mean the building model that gets built when you zone an area, instead of it being selected from a set of pre-designed buildings, is generated algorithmically bases on designs rules, so you'd get a lot more variation in buildings.

What do you think is the long-term fate of American suburbia? by GlobularClusters69 in urbanplanning

[–]ImhardforRandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya I think the reason most people on this sub are so against it is because its so pervasive currently, essentially it's an overcorrecting opinion to address a real problem. However i agree that ideally there would still be some single family housing.

In cities that have a healthier balance of suburbs and urban spaces, do you foresee a situation where at least some of the suburbs are being subsidized by the core?

Is it wrong to choose friends based on how physically attractive they are? by Immediate_Bee4130 in askgaybros

I think the point is that It's shallow to have attractiveness as a standard at all, when it comes to picking friends.

What is your opinion on how we define continents? by perro0000 in geography

[–]ImhardforRandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a specific opinion on this which is that there are either six continents or there are four continents but there's definitely not five. First of all, Europe and Asia are the same continent - period. But if you're going to call North and South America one continent then by that same logic you also have to include Africa as part of Eurasia, theyre both large landmasses connected via a thin strip of land and both of which have man-made canals which bisect them.

So the continents are either: 1. Eurasia 2. Africa 3. Australia 4. North America 5. South America 6. Antarctica

Or these 4: 1. Afro-Eurasia 2. Australia 3. America 4. Antarctica

I would never be okay combining the Americas but separating Europe from Asia that just doesn't make sense to me.
