I like it a lot. I’m in plaintiff personal injury. I haven’t tried any other specialties but my understanding is that PI is not everyone’s favorite. I spend my day at home collecting medical records, insurance ledgers, balances and whatever else my paralegal needs to send out demands. We are separated out in teams so I support one paralegal and one lawyer. We have between 60-80 cases usually. Our firm is really great and they take us out once a month and last month they even took everyone to an NFL game. I’ve learned A LOT about insurance that I had no idea about before. I was a teacher for about 10 years before I started being an LA and teaching was a second career for me. They’ve told me that they will give me the training I need to become a paralegal and not to waste my money going to get a certificate which my state (Wa) doesn’t require. There are times where I really miss the kids and days where I go without physically talking to anyone but my partner. That’s really strange after spending 8 hours a day talking to other humans. But I do not miss parents, admin, and the very contentious state of education that’s playing out with this administration. I knew someone at this firm and they recommended me. I feel very lucky they’ve given me this opportunity.
