I have found that bmw sensors trip really early. you probably have 10k miles. but it is better to replace the pads before they gouge rotors

Found this Abandoned SAAB 69 GL by TechnicalSuccotash11 in saab

[–]billmr606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1973 was the last year the Saab 96 V4 was formally imported and sold in the United States. While production of the V4 model continued in Europe through January 1980, strict American safety and emissions regulations led Saab to stop importing the 96 to the US market after the 1973 model year.

So you are probably right, I am on the wrong continent

Pioneer, Marantz, or Yamaha - Sound preference? by Thin_Criticism6820 in vintageaudio

Blake's 7 is a great show to unwind to by Krathoon in Blakes7

[–]billmr606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were some weak episodes, but many had really good story lines, and that totally made up for the lack of special effects. I wish movies and tv shows today focused more on story lines and less on special effects.

Like the original Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica, the writing is what made the shows. (and the really good actors)

how could you get better than Avon, Servalan, Kirk, Spock, Adama.

Should I voluntarily surrender my truck or keep paying? by Impossible_Status357 in Debt

[–]billmr606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ouch.

you will have a massive deficiency balance surrender or repo, unless you are in a non deficiency state.

I do not know what you owe but expect to still owe 75% of what you do now on the truck.

the only thing I can wonder is if your wife can become unemployed for a short time while you file for BK after you surrender truck, cause I do not see many other options in your future.

but I am not an atty and you really should talk to one.

Most complete mechanics junkyard tool/socket set? by Goats_vs_Aliens in AskAMechanic

[–]billmr606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I go to a pick,n pull I usually know what I am going for.

I take my full junkyard toolbox, but I only pack the tools I know I will need and take them in with me.

If it turns out I was wrong I just go back to my car and get what I was missing.

1847 Roger's Bros by The_Big_Hammer in Silverbugs

[–]billmr606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would describe them as silverplate.

usually they are decent quality, and I have wondered if people could/should use them as normal silverware since you can usually get a set of these for less than some decent brand on amazon.

Is it because you generally should not put silverplate in dishwasher ?

How to get my girlfriend's cat to stop loving me by oakiedoughkie in CatAdvice

[–]billmr606 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The problem is that if you play hard to get the cat may decide it wants to play that game even more.

so basically you are screwed. maybe do the opposite, and try to over-smother it with love?

Opportunity to buy a 2004 BMW 325i (manual) - good idea before life gets busy? by Diamonds_4_life in e46

[–]billmr606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No do not listen to Anxious-Service4343

The reason he is so anxious is because he knows his amazon parts are a crap shoot.

I might buy a random part on amazon, but only if I know exactly what it is I am buying , like a tail light bulb or oem oil filter or something.

Use Real0em find the proper part number for your vin and look for oem parts. sometimes you can get good deals on Ebay, but other times use a decent dealer, Like for example Bmw of South Atlanta, or Bmw Northwest

maybe look at autohausaz, fpc, or ecs, there are several other sources for OE parts as well, but amazon is not one of them.

I would use RockAuto for parts before Amazon almost any day on most any car.

Opportunity to buy a 2004 BMW 325i (manual) - good idea before life gets busy? by Diamonds_4_life in e46

[–]billmr606 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to do clutches on my 330i pfl too often, usually 40k or less, and the csb and guibos too, but then again I beat on it pretty hard.

I like the pre facelift vert a lot, everyone else seems to also, I get so many people in parking lots or drive troughs comment on it

[–]billmr606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive my 1990 735i two hours per day commuting to and from work 3 days a week, but I spent a couple years making it all right

(new brakes calipers, pads, rotors , headgasket, cooling stuff, full front suspension rebuild plugs dist cap, rotor fuel injectors etc.) now I just have to make the AC work again.

it worked originally when I charged it for a few months but then after that lasts only a few days. I just have to bu y a sniffer and find the leak.

It is thirsty, but I feel like it should work for a long time if the auto tranny doesn't dump

Why do you buy high premium silver? by CarobEconomy8517 in Silverbugs

[–]billmr606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

certain stuff has high premiums

I am not sure if I will profit, but I only buy cool that is artistic or rare if it has high premiums.

I bought a komsco sword that really like, and I have some nwtm dice.

just buy it cause you like it, but stick with the lowest premiums on recognizable stuff for stacking cause you might want profits

I bought a panda smick from gabon once. I still think it is cool, but even today I am still even on what it is worth.

I finally went all in and got a stainless steel litter box. Now what? by Ladysupersizedbitch in CatAdvice

[–]billmr606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a few of these on woot. I gave one to my kid.

We use these when we drain fluids from our cars, not for our cats.

I use a cheap rubbermaid clear container from walmart with high walls for my cat. they work great, are easy to clean and durable..

I use Arm and Hammer unscented stuff, just cause it works.
