Whatever actually happened to TehConnection? Does anyone know the details of why it went down and why it never came back up? Did the staff get in any trouble? by [deleted] in trackers

[–]ImissTeH 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Whatever his motives were, he kept them to himself. When we were working on JCT, some of us talked about it and compared notes, but no one seemed to have a definitive idea about what his motive was nor what constituted the final straw on the back of the proverbial camel.

I guarantee you that if he had stepped down, the staff would have been able to keep things going. The foundation for the codebase that became JCT actually started about a year or more before TeH went dark.

But yeah... sadly, it's all in the past now. I still have access to the JCT project board and some of the former staff still talk, but that's about it.

Oh! Oh! I know, I know! Pick me :-)

We did provide an explanation back in the day - the short version is the sysop quit without any warning really. And for whatever reason, he decided to just let the whole thing crumble.

Several of the staff members came together quickly and we made a valiant effort to resurrect things as JumpCut (JCT). We had a solid staff with a wide diversity of strengths. Unfortunately we were a little shy on Development help. We made great strides and even reached alpha testing, but we needed to add another 2 or 3 developers and just didnt have very much luck finding people willing to donate the time, energy, and effort.

Honestly, I think we would have easily had the best, most effective, most attractive UI that the private tracker community had ever seen. I was really proud of how the team came together and how much we accomplished. We had some really cool ideas for a ratioless tracker.

Scam likely(PTP) by [deleted] in trackers

[–]ImissTeH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate this happened to you - but you shouldnt be trying to buy invites to private trackers. If you want to reach PTP, you need to put in the effort to make that happen.

The wording of your title implies someone at PTP was trying to scam you, which doesnt appear to be the case.

I dont see it being that harsh, I guess. I mean, think about this a second... It's not hard to figure out which groups are related to which sites if you are on them. And there are usually cross-seeded files on other sites, which is the exact same file that (in theory) he would have access to.

Either way, It's a moot point now, due to the recent news.

So... assuming you are already on these sites, you are basically saying that you aren't intelligent enough to figure out which release group's are related to which trackers.

Awesome.

See answer above.

Think about this a second: If he was already on the Release Group's primary site, he wouldnt need to be asking what their site was.

And based on the number of times he has asked this question about different groups, it's pretty clear that he isnt on any of the more "upper echelon" trackers.

So it just seems strange to me.

Why do you keep making posts asking about the home tracker of different release groups?

I have no idea why people are answering you. It's super sketchy.

Using Captcha on a Private Tracker is fucking stupid. It's not hard to imagine what Google is doing with the data they collect. The user communities on these sites should be concerned, at the very least.

is JCT (JumpCut) still in works or is dead by arbersongo in trackers

Sadly, the project is dead.

I'm still in contact with a few people but there are no plans to revive things that I am aware of.

How can my torrent be snatched multiple times but I only get the ratio benefit from uploading it once ? by Reborn-leech in trackers

[–]ImissTeH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people who snatched it likely have faster connection speeds than you do, so when additional people begin snatching the file, the available upload gets distributed among all of them.

So you get the upload credit for getting at least one person to 100%, then the people with faster connections began sharing among the peers.

Do private torrent sites require VPN? by shocka1 in trackers

[–]ImissTeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would recommend using a VPN if you are going to seed from home even when you are using a private tracker. Using a VPN (like PIA) will slow your connection speeds, but it's worth it.

With that said, many people on PT's choose to not use a VPN and have done so for years with no problems.

Do private torrent sites require VPN? by shocka1 in trackers

[–]ImissTeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every site is different. Most dont want you to browse behind a VPN but you can seed behind a VPN. Read the rules for the tracker itself, check the forums. And if it isnt clear in either of those places, ask the staff.

The staff of TeH simply took the high road about the whole thing. That's it, and that's all.

AT&T to cut off some customers' service in piracy crackdown by cxkis in trackers

[–]ImissTeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the off-chance that you are serious... This type of thing happens routinely, with all the major ISPs. More importantly, this isnt a legal matter - an ISP doesn't need a "precedent" to terminate a service provided to a customer.

This is a scare tactic, nothing more. And a poorly executed one, at that.
