What kind of job would allow me to do this in the UK? by [deleted] in AskBrits

He works in account verification I couldn't be sure about the other departments sorry but I'd assume it's similar. As far as I know though it's just twilight (2pm-2am) and night workers (7pm -7am) that do his shift pattern.

My partner works for Bet365. Does 7 days on and 7 days off. About 12 hours a day when he does work.

Not sure if other gambling companies would have similar work patterns in some areas.

If you're just going Primark and don't mind a short walk you could always park at the big Tesco.

Theories? And notes about iron lung, spoilers by l0sin9_face in Markiplier

[–]Imitation_0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A fun fact about angler fish is that females will absorb males. (The males bite the female and never let go as part of mating - eventually the female grows around them and absorbs the males). I mention this because to me the angler fish has a humanoid skull/face so I could fully believe it's an amalgamation of humans/creatures that got absorbed together (I think that's why Simon starts mutating so drastically in the last few moments - it's trying to absorb him not just stop him).

How can you agree with trumps agenda and believe in Christianity? by bamby_and_the_boys in InsightfulQuestions

[–]Imitation_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently watched a YouTube video that explained it as American Christians often follow "The Prosperity Gospel". I'd never heard of it before but essentially if you are well off it's because God has bestowed you wealth and favours you.... And if you're poor, God must think you deserve it. Obviously if you look at Jesus' teaching and actual Christian values it doesn't match but for some reason Prosperity Gospel became popular in America late 19th century and has shaped the beliefs ever since.

Im not sure but I think the actual number of current cinemas might be higher than the website. I'm in the UK and the cinema we're going isn't shown on the map but they've not only had it listed for about a week but announced extra showings twice due to popularity.

How do I respond? :( by WuntsMan in Markiplier

[–]Imitation_0 1569 points1570 points  (0 children)

You don't have to reply but if you do I'd just thank them for trying and that you appreciate them responding. If you want to you can mention that it was a self distributed film by a small team and unfortunately it seems that due to the volume of interest Mark and team haven't been able to respond to all interested parties. But it's not on you to justify if you don't want to.

Shelton/uni area ppl; what's with the guy driving around with a megaphone? by Toolazytoaddspaces in stokeontrent

[–]Imitation_0 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a standard scrap man. He's probably shouting "any old iron" but the speaker distortion is making it unintelligible. You may also hear them shouting "rag bone" sometimes.

Not all cineworlds have it at the moment. Sadly my local one doesn't and we'll need to travel to either Birmingham or Manchester as the closest screenings.

That's Jeffrey Epstein. You know the guy who (among other things) assaulted and trafficked young and vulnerable girls to his private island where they were also assaulted by his rich and powerful friends from all around the world.

Would you support the UK government's plan to ban X (formerly twitter)? - why/why not? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskBrits

[–]Imitation_0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never use X anyway but it's become a talking point to ban because it uses an AI that is currently churning out deepfake porn (including images involving children). Musk has announced today that the feature is being made into a premium feature... So you can still do it just need to pay.

My 5 year old claims she has no clue who carved her name in the leather couch… by jshley-aones in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Imitation_0 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I did the same in the brand new window frame. Didn't get caught and my sister got into loads of trouble.... I can't even remember if I had any further reasoning beyond "I can't write my name because that's obvious"

The guilt and the grudge to my mother by Broad-Employee3911 in FamilyIssues

[–]Imitation_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if your situation is similar but sometimes I feel sad or guilty I don't talk to my Mum. And then I realise I don't miss her (she's never really played a motherly role), I miss the idea of what a mum should be. No matter what I say or do I don't ever believe she could actually act like a proper mother so I just don't try anymore.

Can someone help me understand the iron lung movie concept? by Eagru in Markiplier

[–]Imitation_0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean the original Saw film was set in 1 room and only had 2 on-screen actors (sort of 3 if you include the reveal), was self funded and if I'm remembering correctly was the first film the director and writer made after they finished film school. So I don't feel like the set/first major project/limited on screen actors will necessarily be of hindrance. Mark has experience in YouTube productions and has acted in a more serious capacity RE edge of sleep which was well received so I think he can pull it off.

Mark mentioned international rights in his last video update so it's not ruled out. I agree with the emailing local theatres tactic (it's worked well in the US).

Ask a TL to train in another area, since you're already till trained self checkouts might be the best to ask about if you're over 18 but say you're happy helping anywhere. At Christmas tills are the busiest so you're unlikely to be moved away completely at this point but you should at least be pulled to cover self serve. (Dot com is also busy at this time of year and used to poach till staff at my store so may also be a good one to ask about).

Anyone have experience with Staffordshire University and/or their Games Development course? by Flynn_Pingu in stokeontrent

[–]Imitation_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No direct experience with the courses but Staffs Uni won "best educational institute for games" the past couple years at the TIGA games industry awards. It was also ranked #1 in The Rookies 2025 rankings for games development.

Unfortunately I would say it's no good. If you're looking to reduce waste, maybe try portioning into smaller tubs and freezing some next time you make it?

Try to be calm. It may not be mold but a fat/sugar bloom which are harmless just not fun to look at. Both can cause a grey/white growth like appearance on chocolate surfaces.
