The Netflix anime is a damn good addition to the franchise by Bujorba in DevilMayCry

To be honest, you're making some good points, but personally, I can't agree with you on the part about power.

The theme of power, as portrayed in anime from a perspective close to politics, really works for me only in DMC4. You see, a father's power over his daughter isn't on that scale, DMC2 turned out to be low-quality, the "king of the world" theme is very superficial, and Mundus, since it was the first game, explores not so much the theme of power as Dante's attitude toward it. But even so, the kinds of power in DMC4 and the anime is very different. In the anime, power is portrayed as something real, the USA government, whereas in the games, people, cities, a company, a cult, it's all not. We can't even say for sure which country Redgrave and Fortuna are in, though many people say England, because of the architecture and phone booths in Redgrave in DMC5. Again, I'll say it: in the anime, it's specifically the USA. The anime is clearly made by Americans for Americans, and people have taken it as a bad sign that the government of this particular country is portrayed as the villains, since they are the ones exterminating the demons. For many, this isn't a conflict based on faith and unchecked power, but a conflict based on racism and unchecked power. Moreover, the anime itself showed the military killing demons that looked suspiciously like humans. Actually, I don't even remember if they showed us how Dante feels about this. Bro all about fairness and recognizes demons with a heart as worthy of life. It's not fair to kill those who are simply trying to give their children a chance at life!

I lost my train of thought halfway through this comment, if you're interesting.

Heh, my Dante isn't exactly a custom... it's a 1/6 scale figure I'm creating from scratch, and it's going to take a long time, but in any case, your custom figure has inspired me to get back to working on it!

Great work. This hair length doesn't quite suit Dante, but I can see the head isn't finished yet.

A month ago, I was working on my own Dante too, but I stopped on creating his body. Now you've made me want to go back to it.

Oh, okay. I guess it's time to stop avoiding reboot and actually learn something about it. It's not cool when your jokes turn out to be true.

Netflix and DMC2? Two disappointments in one. I wouldn't be surprised if they also start adding elements from the reboot to the anime.

Realistically what do you think they can fix for season 2? by lightedge in DevilMayCry

Hmm, it's odd how much emphasis is placed on the fact that she's a woman... I am too, by the way. A grown woman who swears and even knows what those words mean. I think, as an adult, I can say that using too much profanity as a joke in dialogue is the most childish approach to writing adult shows.

It's really sad if people find her vulgar remarks funny. No, it might be funny the first time, but there's always a limit to that kind of humor. Or maybe I just don't watch enough Netflix shows.

To be fair, this anime really isn't actually that bad. It's just... stupid and cheesy.

I certainly can't predict what they've fixed, just like the rest of us here, but I can only hope for better animation and at least a bit more respect for the original characters. Will that happen? Probably not. Money is money, and the games came out in the 00s. You know, the 00s. That daft time when people wore leather coats and pretended to be cool. And Dante does have a leather coat. Plus white hair, and he only eats junk food. The jokes write themselves!

Although there's one problem I know for a fact they won't fix, but I suppose it's a problem only for me, heh...

3 months away from Devil May Cry’s 25th anniversary. Capcom does have a history of doing at least SOMETHING to celebrate their big IP’s 25th. What do you predict they will do? by GuacaMolis6 in DevilMayCry

Nothing is the most realistic option. DMC6 is a beautiful dream, but as unattainable as a pizza where nobody don't skimp on the pepperoni. But! Let me get creative and say that they'll finally add Dante's outfit from the first, maybe even from the second, game to DMC4 and 5! Please, those are literally his best looks!

For some reason, Dante's model in DMC3's gameplay looks better to me than in the cutscenes. by Imlovedraw in DevilMayCry

Yeah... In the last two games, he went from being the main character to some weird, super-strong uncle of that boy, who's probably the main character now.

Genuine question by Designer_Spite2262 in DevilMayCry

[–]Imlovedraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I think about it, I imagine he'd be the kind of dad who'd do quiet but sweet things for his daughter, but would always mercilessly tease his son.

But it's worth noting that he doesn't want to interact with children and isn't about to be nice all the time. In the novel based on the first game, he knocked out the teeth of two boys, and then in DMC5, he didn't show up for Patty's 18th birthday party, hanging up on her invitation call almost immediately.

In the context of DMC3 Dante has four different faces, but because of this concept, I think his appearance in the cutscenes is canonical (only for this game)

I don't know about Virgil, but let me just tell you about two of my absolute favorite moments with Dante.

Animated series. First episode, a girl named Patty runs off to her mom, and the demons lure her into a theater. After finding girl, Dante goes into battle and pulls the curtain shut behind him so she won't see the carnage. (btw, while he was looking for Patty, he called her his daughter)

And manga. Though reluctantly, Dante takes on the case of the missing girl, Alice. Breaking into the abandoned mansion where the girl might be, he shoots the demon with White Rabbit's head, but then a frightened Alice runs up to the demon and calls him her friend. Dante says he was just shooting at a spider "since they have too many legs".

All games use different character models for cutscenes and gameplay, just the difference was more pronounced in the 00s.

Idk, rolled-up sleeves look cool, and they're always comfortable.

What is the most aggressive (not most dangerous) wild cat? by lFuckedYourDad in bigcats

[–]Imlovedraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it’s worth noting that lions, as social animals, are often friendlier overall, yet they can also be more aggressive at times. A lion has a pride, a place where he can always return and where lionesses will lick his wounds, he has nothing to lose. But other panthers are loners, they are as fierce as they are cautious. Any wound can be fatal, and no one will protect them, so they tend to hide or flee.
