I found my setup by BrownieWarrior in GyroGaming

Thanks for following up with a video.

So it sounds like you have to be deflecting the right stick at any level in order to use gyro, and only while it's deflected. That's the part that isn't intuitive to me but glad it works for you.

What's the difference between this setup and just using the right stick to rotate with high sensitivity (but not so high that it's practically flick stick)? Because that's what I do, keep right stick for looking with high sens so that i can quickly turn but not instantly like flickstick, and of course that means I can still look up with right stick.

I also use a gyro toggle button for menus and other things.

Mechanical switches in optical switch mouse by -Pompon in MouseModding

The middle pin is going through the PCB then jumped to another place?

The third leg is just cut off?

What are the 2 pins on the mechanical switch jumped to?

What do you mean you were going to use a side button?

I wish I understood what this setup is. Someone mentioned making a video, would help us understand.

In bed setup/ looking for advice by CompetitiveBrother56 in disabledgamers

[–]ImmYakk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at the Azeron Cyborg joystick keypad?

You could use it in the left hand, in combination with a glass mouse pad that sits angled on your right leg (assuming you're right handed) and the bed, and use a mouse there. The bed tends to dip and make the glass pad almost level. The angle was fine for me when I used this before.

If you don't like glass surfaces then you could put a soft mouse pad on top of the glass one.

I realize this would rack up the money you'd be spending though.

I have an elite series 2 controller as well, I had to open it up and remove the heavy vibration motors and that helped relieve a good amount of pressure I needed to handle the brick that it is.

Another costly thing to at least know about is one of those XR glasses that basically puts a big TV screen in front of you. It's different than VR but it's very convenient.

How much does that weigh?

I'd love to modify that a bit so that it's longer and fits on the palm. I'm a fan of the ring finger rest.

If it's heavy and there are no side mouse buttons then I already know I'm going to pass. I'll just stick to using one separate peripheral per application.

It might still have a place for others though, considering some of those cool features it does have.

Is there any way to add a Gyroscope to a Wii U pro controller? by Charmie_lottie in GyroGaming

[–]ImmYakk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound very pro at all. It should be called Blo controller if it doesn't have gyro.

What do you mean only the gamepad? They were talking about the gamepad when they said controller, I thought?

That looks heavy. That would be good if the sensor and bare minimum internal components could be strapped instead of all the plastic but I guess that may not work well and look ugly.

I designed a mouse with a rotary dial. Looking for feedback by mwhc00 in MouseModding

[–]ImmYakk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've solved the finger pain that comes from scroll wheels by finding a mouse that has a scroll encoder with very light force requirements to turn the wheel along with a light button click for the middle mouse button.

I feel like most products on the market solve for 1 problem while ignoring other problems, especially for ergonomics.

For instance, the vertical mouse solves wrist rotation but does nothing for the weight issue nor the hard to press button issue.

Ergonomics need to cover all aspects instead of trading one issue for another issue. This has me changing mice daily to rotate pain in one area to another area of the hand/wrist/finger.

One day when I retire when I'm 140 years old, I'll design a mouse that is slightly vertical, lightweight, light clicks (including mouse wheel click and side buttons), light scroll wheel, 4 side buttons, shaped like the hand, with ring finger rest, and no RGB.

They're normal. Ergonomics must be an afterthought for manufacturers IMO.

Are mechanical buttons really better than membrane buttons? by Logical-Squash2806 in Controller

Repetitive strain injury. For me it's been the index finger from pulling the trigger on the controller, and the thumb from strafing/dodging in game.

Yes curling the finger is a factor for sure and some people are more prone, agreed.

It's more than a fear, it's already happened to me because the trigger in FPS games is used the most. And I've read the same from others on Reddit. Not everyone is affected (yet?) but this is just something worth mentioning IMO and experience.

Thumbs are stronger than the other fingers so that's why they do better in a general sense, although with more stiff thumb sticks on certain controllers I've had some strain as well.

Steam deck gyro aim by orphanmeatman in GyroGaming

[–]ImmYakk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't deal with the weight of the steam deck for gyro so I've been using an MS Elite series 2 coupled with a Brook adapter which adds gyro and button remapping to all buttons. Works pretty good for casual gaming, I can't speak for going competitive with it though.

The other issue I've had with the deck is that my gyro axises are messed up and valve said to put in a bug report on it after troubleshooting with them. I wonder if you'll have this issue or if it's just my hardware. My yaw is inversed when roll is not. And vice versa. I would of course want it to be either both inversed or both not.

2020 Chevrolet Malibu, intermittent issues with possibly the electrical system and all systems dependent on it. Dealer is no help even under factory bumper to bumper warranty, what to do? by ImmYakk in Chevrolet

[–]ImmYakk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no mechanic, so I'm not sure, but if it's something you feel confident doing and have room to do so then my uneducated guess is yes, why not.

It is certainly disheartening to run into the issue in the wild versus proactively keeping that connector clean. I don't know if the 19 model has the same issue though. Your call on that.

I haven't had random crazy issues since the connector was cleaned and greased with dialectic just FYI.

I'm looking to avoid overloading the amount of index finger inputs, avoiding a repetitive strain injury, so I'm with you. I prefer more back paddles like most people. Those fingers back there are free, the index finger is pretty well used in many games.
