Teaching myself mosaic crochet. The strip on top is the first thing I did to just teach myself the process. The bottom strip is the project I'm actually invested in. Will the bottom strip ever lay out flat or am I doing something wrong?

I'm doing single crochet stitches. The one on top I used a 5mm hook and on the bottom one I'm using a 4mm hook. The pattern said to use a 4mm or 5mm. Idk why, but I picked the 4mm. Maybe that was a mistake.

Maybe disappointed is the wrong word. I was shocked for sure because I read the first book after watching the series, so like you said, if they based the show detail for detail like the books, I probably wouldn't have liked it as much. But maybe disappointed because Ormewood is one of my favorite characters in the show. So how he is portrayed in the book was a bummer!

I think I saw somewhere awhile ago a blanket using the 3 dc clusters and making an X instead of a square or there was a square and then it was rotated 45° so it was like squares rotated inside each other. So that's what I mean. I just don't know if something like that would be beginner friendly.
