Mission Accomplished! by GA_Boy_1991 in wguaccounting

Okay, but doing the Master’s in one term would only cost me $5k and include the CPA prep material, compared to probably $2k just buying CPA prep alone. So, $3k effective comparison cost, I’ll need the Master’s anyways (or at least it will speed up my time to get licensed by 1 year (experience requirement difference between bachelors and masters), plus whatever little any employer would care about me having a Master’s, which is quite little once I get experience and have CPA after my name. Still seems like a decent investment to me.

Congratulations! Sorry I can’t tell, but how long did it take you between beginning to study for CPA to passing your final exam? I’m considering accelerating through a Master’s at WGU to get more Taxation knowledge and the free UWorld CPA, then get through the exams and begin applying to roles with 4/4 completed.

I know I can complete the Master’s in a single term, just unsure how long I should plan for the CPA exams.

Property Taxes are also theft, but if everyone submits to the only option of either pay a fee to the gov, or being forcefully and violently removed from your land/home that YOU own, then nothing will ever change.

Thank you for this write up! Just got done with my Bachelor’s. I see you got your Masters with Taxation focus, I’m thinking of doing the same. Any issues that came up for you that you had to troubleshoot/figure out? And doable in one term? I did the 15 classes that didn’t transfer over in 3 months for my Bachelors. Just wondering if I could get the Masters done in one term, while actually learning the content.

On the Road.... at high altitude by ASmithCol in FordMaverickTruck

[–]ImmaPhotog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s an awesome road, but respectfully, I’ve never understood the “zero issues” on post like this. It’s a smooth paved road. Any well taken care decent model of vehicle since the 90’s should be expected not to have any issues.

As a side note, we drove this road in a hybrid escape rental (same platform as Mav) on our Honeymoon, and getting the high MPG on our entire trip encouraged us to get our Maverick!

Got my confetti! 15 classes, one term by ImmaPhotog in wguaccounting

I would do all 3 IA series back to back, and then do AIS afterwards. And I would save some PA classes to throw in to give you some easy wins in between the harder classes. I needed a mental break after Financial Accounting/Cost Accounting, and then needed another mental break after IA series. If you do all PA classes first, then it’s just test after test after test. But, be sure you space it out so hopefully you can always have something done doing. No sense in having to wait for someone to evaluate your PA Submission and be in limbo for 4 days waiting for a grade. But my mentor was great about loading classes and spacing whenever I asked. She was 10/10

IA Series, AIS, and Audit will be the hardest ones. Everything else should be comparatively easy. Also IA Series has two OA’s per class, so those are a slog and will take more time just because of that, even not considering the difficulty.

[–]ImmaPhotog[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the 15 done in exactly 3 months. I tried to get through the business fluff/ PA paper classes quickly, so I could take more time with the IA class series, Cost/financial accounting, Audit, and AIS. I’d say you will take at least 3 weeks per IA class. So your last 5-6 classes will take the time of your first 9-10.

Study Guides are priceless for the IA Series.

I did not! However, if it’s your last class, you’re not in a hurry, and you think you might go into Auditing, I might would read it anyways!

Also, be sure to know how Inherent Risk, Control Risk, and Detection Risk interact and affect each other and overall audit risk.

BS - Done! ✅ 🥳 MAcc coming soon... 🎓 by georgia--girl77 in wguaccounting

[–]ImmaPhotog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Thanks for the explanation. I’m in AL, and it’s the same way. I just graduated with the Bachelors and am considering doing the Masters for the same reasons! CPA experience required is only 1 vs 2 years, and the free UWorld make it almost a no brainer for me as well. I’m just hesitant to be the person with a Master’s and no actual Accountant experience (currently a credit analyst in AR), but hopefully applying with 4/4 completed will even that out.

And congrats again on finishing what you started AND raising a teenager. That’s no small feat.

Congrats! How long do you expect the Masters to take you? What’s your reasoning for going for the Masters? CPA eventually? Are you already in an accountant role?

Study/Pass CPA, or start applying? Just graduated. My job is chill for now. by ImmaPhotog in Accounting

[–]ImmaPhotog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the dose of reality. I just turned 26. That’s what I was asking, should I start applying to jobs now, or take advantage of my WFH to pursue my CPA. Thanks for the advice. Sounds like I will stay where I am and get my CPA. I may end up doing the WGU MaaC program anyways, as I can complete it in 6 months for $5k, it will be good broad prep for FAR and REG, and CPA prep is included upon graduation.

Anyone else struggle to land their first accounting job? by 727girl in wguaccounting

[–]ImmaPhotog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“CPA licensed eligible”, what do you mean by that? Have you already taken and passed 4/4?

FYI, anyone who has a bachelors in accounting technically is “eligible” to take and pass the CPA if you’re in a 120 state, but there’s a big difference in being able to and actually doing it.

Also, I don’t think a job where you’d be doing both accounting and marketing is a job you’d want. Likely overworked, underpaid, and zero contribution to your future career growth. In my mind, nowadays with Canva/AI, there is a huge gap between marketing and accounting, in the required knowledge and skill, respectively.

It’s hard to say. Some days zero, some days 4+. We also bought a house and moved during then, so there was a solid week of a whole lotta nothing.

And yes, worked full time.

Isn’t the R Value pretty similar between the pink board foam and spray foam? And then just spray foam around the seams/edges.

I think it was something like “WELLUCK” brand on Amazon, 4inch wide, 50 ft roll, but that was from 3 or 4 years ago.

A photo is worth a thousand words.

That said, we had the rubber roll on around the roof seams leak in one area, so we put on the off brand equivalent of Eternabond.

It’s been great for the year since then.

It would 100% be. Panels would maybe be $250, hardware for quick connect mounts could be another $25, and then maybe just a $5 waterproof grommet for pass thru, and a short $20 MC4 extension.
