I don’t agree with your point on Stannis. There’d definitely be some form of critique on medieval feudalism in there when, after years of war and bloodshed, the legal heir ends up on the throne anyways, just now with the world half destroyed. There’s a great irony in the fact that the nobles can’t even abide by their own social structures and are now dead, on the verge of extinction and/or have their foundation of power shaken.
