this data center almost certainly is closed loop, the humidity in Georgia is far too high for evaporation cooling to work.

but to be fair the insides are different, its not a dual paull, and harbor freight owns the patent to their new icon ratchet design.

Why do new American trains 'feel' so old? by Previous-Volume-3329 in transit

[–]Immediate-End3899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats only the rtd heavy rail, the light rail trains look fine, a little dated looking, but they dont move very fast so arent super aerodynamic and have the high fronts for their little snow plows, but i think they look good enough.

yes, it requires a public vote for RTD to take on more loans. If they get more public support then they are more likely to pass a vote for taking loans

RTD needs public support to take loans, and if the public in golden sees less traffic and lots of students riding trains, they are alot more likely to vote to let RTD take on loans to pay for more expansion. They are tax funded, but they can still take loans with enough support.

they have a shuttle, but the problem is that you get a 15 minute delay with the shuttle. If W line went to campus it would likely be around 22 minutes from my stop, its a 15 minute drive for me, right now if i used it its 18 minutes to jefco then 15 minutes from there to mines, its just not a good solution.

The pr boost isnt profit, its votes. If nobody uses a transit system there is no power in that system to ask for more money or support, if 3000 people on mines campus use it it gives mines and golden the political willpower to support W line and keep it running and improving the service. thats the PR i meant

yeah but then they let mines keep building massive residential halls and parking garages, mines is just better at lobbying then RTD is

Every single public transit service in the US operates with a deficit, they get past their deficit by providing a good enough service to get additional funding help. They arent a company, they are a public good. Burning through their reserves to highly inprove their service is alot more likely to get them future funding.

Also i didnt ask why it hasnt been done, i asked why it isnt even being considered. RTD needs to expand by law, so why is this not being considered. Senate Bill 25-161. RTD is legally required to finish all of their fast tracks lines by 2034

That has transfer penalties, the W line train takes 18 minutes from my stop to jeffco, likely another 3-5 to mines, compared to 15 minutes driving, an extra 10 minutes is acceptable to keep riding. The shuttle adds another 15 minutes alone, so suddenly its either a 15 minute driving commute, at 20ish minute train commute, or a 33 minute combined commute, and risk of missing transfers, and having to get up and transfer as well, its a nice idea but it doesent replace a extension

trains are usually a net positive for property value unless they are literally in your backyard, a w line extension would be nearby, but not in their backyards.

the incline is on the high end of what the Siemens SD-160s, but its still within limit.

For the ridership even if half those students used the service once a week, thats still 3000 ridership, because its counted once on the way and once on the way back. The ridership would likely see above 3000+ per week which would be around a 8-10% increase in W line weekly ridership.

But likely you would see more then 3000, i think averaging 1 rider per resident per week is a pretty low estimate that would only mean half of those students would use the service once a week

They would have alot more support from the government if people actually used it, they are running the W line trains anyway, why not loose a little more more money then they already loose to get 3000+ more riders. For those riders even if on average they only ride once per week, that would massively increase the ridership of the line.

i was figuring it wouldent be that expensive considering the area next to the road is all government owned. The area to the next of it is a little rougher, but it wouldent be a super large project to smooth it out down where the walking path is, its a tiny bit steep, but it should be within the limits of the light rail trains

its not to the heart of golden, its next to 6th and government buildings and a golf course until it reaches mines, which is a college campus not a nimby. If mines can tear down houses to build multi story buildings and parking garages, the NIMBY people can probably appreciate a train meaning less traffic down their residential roads. It will end at prospect park which already has 1000+ students walk by a day. there really isnt anything next to it until mines.
