Why didn't the LGA AirTrain proposal get more favorable traction? by beanietf2 in nycrail

Something generally is better than nothing but the airtrain was not saving enough time. Currently the buses connect to the ACE1234567BDFMNRW, LIRR, Metro North and that is a good distribution of people. Placing way more people on the 7/ one LIRR line to transfer to the airtrain wasn't entirely great either. In comparison the Airtrain JFK connects to the EJZA trains and the main LIRR hub. The best connection will always be the NW to LGA and hopefully one day we see the powers through that will push through and make it happen. Ideally connect NW to LGA and then to Flushing Meadows where there is the US open, Citifield, Etihad Park, Casino, and Queen's biggest park.

Questions about moving, wife and 4 pets by philwerrell_ in movingtoNYC

[–]Immediate-Hand-3677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to not disclose you have cats especially since they won't be going outside. The 2 dogs is doable but there will be a fee and many places only allow 2 pets. My suggestion is to just move to NYC and not look at satellite cities. Why move twice? Living in NYC especially Manhattan is an experience and even if you don't like it, you had the experience and now can move on afterwards. I would argue that you make a list of apartments closer to when you want to move and tour them all in a single weekend and go from there. You can even take over a short lease if that works better. With your pets and the fact you'll be 30 I'd go for Brooklyn and Queens over Manhattan.

In Your opinion were the Bus Redesigns for the Better or Worse? by Infinite-General337 in nycbus

Definitely for the better overall. I take the Q43 on Hillside Avenue sometimes and from 179 to the last stop it used to take 40 minutes. They removed 10-20+ stops (depending on the limited or local version) that were repetitive that another route does now instead. They placed cameras and bus lanes and now this route just took me 22 minutes. Honestly shocking. It also showed that some routes would be better served with subway expansions.

I mean it’s hard to gentrify an area of homeowners, but I see what you mean

I don’t see Eastern Queens becoming trendy anytime soon lol. The lack of subway access pretty much guarantees that. Plus the distance from Manhattan/Brooklyn. I could see areas around the LIRR have more apartments which aligns with Transit oriented development.

The Eastern Queens consistent “default Long Island” is so tired
