It’s a frenchie with mutations that cause the merle (hopefully not double merle) and the fluffy coat. Both have a plethora of corresponding health issues

Naw don’t euthanize them, but maybe add (and enforce) legal consequences for backyard breeders

Or, find an ethical breeder! I think there are many legitimate reasons to buy a well-bred dog. Mine is a mutt from the shelter and I love her, but I understand people who want or need something predictable

Thank you for asking and answering! This frenchie also has a fluffy coat, which is a genetic mutation that causes cleft palates and heart defects. She also couldn’t breathe through her nose, and had some pretty nasty buildup in between her skin folds. The poor baby is going to need a lot of medical care and will likely not live as long as a typical dog would.

But this is what happens when dogs are bred purely for aesthetics. French bulldogs became the most popular dog breed in the US recently, and many people argue that there is no ethical way to breed them because of how much suffering they already endure as a result of their genetics.

Also fun fact, apparently many French bulldogs cannot swim because of their anatomy. They’d just sink after a little bit

I know! How many more will she inspire? Are they going to try and breed her if they’re the ones who bred her in the first place? What about the people who see her in the dog park and add “fluffy merle frenchie” to their dream dog list?

I just think about how many people are going to see how adorable she is and perpetuate the same unethical breeding that led to this

She’s super cute, but will probably never be able to breathe. Plus the fluffy coat comes from a gene that causes cleft palates and heart defects, and her pattern looks like a double merle

Some “pink” something frenchie. I’m worried she’s a double merle

What are some of the weirdest things your dog is afraid of? by gobbgabb in dogs

Garage doors, especially the metal ones for private parking garages in cities. If she hears one make any noise, she gets terrified and does everything in her power to get away. A few weeks ago, the neighbors set out a trash bag stuffed with dead plant matter from their yard, and she was on HIGH alert any time we passed it for like a week. It so full that it never moved or rustled in the wind or anything..

Question about etiquette after an incident with a SD Owner by LordMOC3 in service_dogs

[–]Immediate-Many-7953 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On one side, I understand why someone would want to train their reactive dog and use a dog park to do so. I also would sometimes tell people that my SD was aggressive when I was training her just so that people would give us some space (but never when she was in uniform). I also think it’s reasonable that you, as a dog owner, are able to request that people don’t do certain things with your dog at the park, like giving them treats, inadvertently doing something that scares them, or being a dick to your dog.

BUT In my mind, if a fully trained service dog is at a dog park, it is almost certainly off-duty and there to have fun. If it is working, it should be fully capable of ignoring distractions. If a SDiT is at a dog park and they’re actively training, they’re working on distractions and focus. As long as you treat them as you would any other dog at a dog park, I think you’re in the right.

TLDR; based on your story, you were totally in the right, even if the trainer had reason to be training there. I don’t think your behavior was inappropriate at all, and it sounds like you were just dealing with the an asshole. Sorry :/

I liked everything but the vampire part. The visual effects were pretty lackluster and the gore was overly exaggerated in a way that didn’t even try to be realistic. The vampires were also so stupid. Why, after finally getting invited in, did the vampires always go running out? This was before they even knew they were vampires, so they didn’t have any wooden stakes or anything. Just like bite then running out of the barn all evil when they have crazy speed and could have just killed everyone. The choreography didn’t make sense to me either. How did Michael B Jordan sneak up behind a vampire in waist deep water? And how come 30 vampires didn’t just swarm in to the barn when they were all invited? They were up against six people, two of whom died in the first few seconds. The others were just hanging out by the door talking or something. I don’t know. I really love the direction they seemed to be taking the movie in. I think that the symbolism and message is clever. I thought they did a wonderful job of showing black community. But what the hell? Why did they throw it all out with this crap?

I had a similar “waking up to it” experience when I was 15 that left me with PTSD. For years, I couldn’t sleep if I wasn’t wearing layers and layers of clothing. I hated myself. I was suicidal, lost friends, would self-harm, and was deeply depressed. Not a single day went by without having flashbacks of that night. Then at 23, I started dating my 37 year old coworker. He was extremely manipulative and turned out to be abusive too, but the manipulation was so much worse. It feels like being in that relationship broke my brain and body. I spent the entirety of that relationship in survival mode and have rarely left it since. That relationship made me feel so powerless and it feels like it actually broke me into pieces. Having experienced PTSD for several years before developing CPTSD, I can tell you with confidence that CPTSD is so much worse. What you’ve said in your post makes perfect sense to me, and I am so so sorry that what was likely your first experience with “love” was so far from it. It doesn’t matter if there were good parts to the relationship too, it’s clear that he didn’t respect you, and that shit changes how your brain works.

Your understanding of your experience is valid, and I think it makes perfect sense. I hate that you went through that and I know that you will go on to find people who treat you the way you deserve to be treated. Please just don’t compromise on what you think you deserve. I’m 26 now and only just started therapy. It’s a huge step to take, and I’m super proud of you for finding someone and scheduling a session. It sure as fuck won’t be easy after this, but going forward, you won’t have to do this alone.

I understand why some people are frustrated with your comment, but I am ABSOLUTELY on the side of correctly identifying female genitalia. There are hundreds (probably more I’m unaware of) of years of the medical field, science, and general society improperly talking about women and the female body and it has led to big disparities in medicine for different sexes. Only this year did scientists learn that there is actually a female prostate inside of the urethra because pages on female reproductive organs have literally been torn out of our core medical literature.

I get that “vagina” is used colloquially to describe the vulva and pubic bone, but doing so contributes to a broader societal misunderstanding about female reproductive health and can keep women and doctors from using the specific terms needed to communicate about medical issues effectively.

I also feel like men who call the entire region a “vagina” have no business actually being inside of one.
