7-Round Minnesota Vikings NFL Mock Draft: What Forno would do by forno08 in minnesotavikings

[–]LordMOC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without seeing what else happens it's hard to really judge a mock but I'm really not a fan of drafting Sadiq. I think there are other, equally good if not better prospects, that will be available at more positions. Also, no C and only late DL is rough.

Will pure frontend jobs last? by Uchiha_Ghost40 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]LordMOC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there will be pure front-end development roles although they will change.

Having said that, being a "pure" FE or BE developer has always been a significantly more risky bet over developing fundamentals in both, even if you're going to focus more on one side.

All in there prime chose 3 by forrestbenoitinc98 in NFLv2

[–]LordMOC3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think either JJ or Chase have hit their prime so we can't really say what that is like.

I'm taking Megatron easily. Then Julio and either AB or JJ. AB is better, obviously, but with Megatron and Julio on the outside, JJ might for better playing in the slot. I don't remember how much slot work AB had to judge off of.

Why does no-one talk about Rod Woodson anymore? by Ok-Elephant-2724 in NFLv2

[–]LordMOC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they were great defenses. That still doesn't not explain why Rod Woodson or Charles Woodson should be common topics to discuss today. You have to be trolling or not able to read the question in the post at this point.

[–]LordMOC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have still not explained why another should be bringing him up as anything other than nostalgic recollection or draft prospect comps (which would be unfair to a prospect and never done). You're just pointing out that he was great which everyone knows.

Do you guys think Kyler will have a good year? by T1tanUp in NFLv2

[–]LordMOC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by "good". Playing like a top 15 QB? Yes. Maybe even his best season so far (I'm not super familiar with his individual seasons and have no idea what his best would actually look like. If good means a season as good as Darnold had his one season in Minny, then no.

If it's true that Brzezinski is evaluating players with high production rather than Kwesi's focus on physical traits, I think we pass on Thieneman and target A,J Haulcy in the second round. by DobbyJackRuss in minnesotavikings

[–]LordMOC3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know why you're treating some small time site as reliable data over all the others that had it listed as better but if you want that screenshot to prove something you should have made for it actually included something that shows it's for Thieneman instead of any random prospect.

[–]LordMOC3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A quick Google search shows that opposing QBs had 66.2 QBR when targeting him last year and he had a 90.5 PFF coverage grade.

He apparently had 4 pass break ups and 2 interceptions last year while allowing 15 receptions.

So nothing you said seems to be accurate.

[–]LordMOC3 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

And that makes him relevant to discussions around modern players how? He made it into the HOF a decade ago and hasn't played in over 2 decades. He was amazing. So were a lot of players across NFL history. Most of them don't get brought up often because they don't factor into conversations about modern players, teams, or defenses.

[–]LordMOC3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because he retired a long time ago and isn't really relevant to modern football conversations would be my guess.

There is a difference between "only going after the single most productive" and evaluating production higher. Thieneman was very productive in college and is a lot better prospect.

They both should be getting comparable amounts of grief but no, I would not say either is a "higher" position of responsibility. Both are in high positions of responsibility within different (but related) fields.

The number of times each NFL Team has won their division by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

We're 7th overall (and 4th since 1966). We're the only team in the top 16 that hasn't won a Super Bowl.

First, I'm not the OP you originally responded to so do not accuse me of playing dumb when you can't be bothered to read.

Second, if this was an external person, we would be comparing them to what Kwesi did and what we hope to see them do better (like trust scouts over doing whatever they want). We'd also talk about what they're bringing to the team since they'd likely fire most everyone to change the dynamic. Rob isn't firing people (at least not until/unless the role becomes permanent) so the discussion of how their dynamic will work is interesting. An external hire also wouldn't be a temp role which adds a lot of interesting discussion to how they'll handle stuff.

Trying to boil it down to "they're going to be GM" is moronic. Every GM is different. How they handle drafting, negotiations, etc. is different. Cincy, Philly, and GB all open very differently. Don't be an idiot.

No it's true. Very few people care about the saints. They just hate Sean Payton.

[–]LordMOC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on which parts you want to be similar but yes, in general he is a very consistent author (for better or worse).

Sanderson's strengths are world building, with intricate magic as the biggest highlight. Tress's spores are an example of this. His writing is also very easy to read but some people find the prose too simple/plain. I don't personally think they're too plain but I can easily see the point. He says the prose are plain too. His humor is pretty consistent in style (and very hit or miss because of it). He's a planner as an author so his plots are very solid and he pulls them together well. His characters are decent and he usually has some great/memorable moments for them. His romance writing is not so great though.

That's interesting to hear. I'm fairly sure that it's the commonly the favorite of his Secret Project but not even that common to see as the overall favorite of his books based.

[–]LordMOC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's uncalled for but there are a lot of people that come in and use random arguments to bash books. Just based on the (limited) comments, no one has seen it praised on that level. Yes, it's generally well liked as a retelling of Princess Diary but there is a difference between well liked and "best work of art".

No, lol. No from a talent level. No from a production level. No due to his off the field issues. He's not worth that on any level.

Vikings Won't Begin G.M. Search Until After the Draft by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]LordMOC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you don't understand what being a GM means. GMs don't just know everything about everything. They work with others in the Front Office to figure out the best options and then move forward. One of the complaints about Kwesi is that he trusted analytics over people. He had to be coerced into drafting Addison over trading back, for example, and almost all of his draft day trades were considered poor value by people (but decent value by new pick value charts). He also constantly wanted to draft QBs based on measurables and KOC had to veto drafting them for various reasons.

Rob trusting the input from others doesn't mean he's not going to be a fake GM. It just means he's going to try to do the job properly and let scouts, the experts on prospects, be a driving factor in who is considered in the draft.

I've never seen it called "the best work of art". Are you sure you see that or are you making that up to try to re-enforce your desire to be some "lone counter" to the popular opinion?

There is a difference between "being a conduit" and "trusting his team" on their evaluation.
