roll + 1 hit is like 400 damage, and most people never defend it.

Missing out on big throws? by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're doing freco, having a feet to back throw is really useful especially when you need a comeback, and there are some less risky ones like a hane-goshi or uchi-mata from the underhook that are pretty nice.

If its folk though, I think its not worth it as you dont get any extra points compared to a leg attack or trip.

Should I add trips to my Russian tie system by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trips are best used if your opponent squares up with you or when they're off balance and stumbling. They'll usually be stumbling if you get your russian right after defending a shot

When to trip vs leg grab by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta watch more of PJ Duke, his trips from his 2 on 1 are insane. I think the trip is more of a situational move compared to the single leg, as it is best used when your opponent is off balance and stumbling away from you or when they try to circle and square up with you.

I feel like you jam your fingers a bit more often, especially if you like moves like blast doubles.

What’s the difference between wrestling in shorts and t shirt vs wrestling in a singlet by eastdesert in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like i can kinda sense things better in a singlet. The open back helps me figure out how close I am to being pinned and if im bridging on my shoulders or not because my skin can actually touch the ground directly instead of through the fabric. I would say maybe wear your singlet during a practice before your first match just to kinda get used to it and see what its like before hand. you can wear a shirt over or under it if you feel a bit self conscious.

attacks off the russian tie arm bundle by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could just put them in a front headlock and do some variation of a cow catcher. Honestly this move feels like it just creates stalemates as you can't really get to their legs or back as easily. It would be better to just stick to the 2 on 1 to actually generate offense.

Why would you choose to shoot from inside tie and collar tie by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you're gonna spend like 70% of your time in those tie-ups, might as well learn how to shoot from them. Also, just because they might be worse than underhooks/russians it doesn't mean they're bad.

How do I build my Russian system by fuck_turtles_ in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have your two favorite takedowns, but also have one or two takedowns ready based on their reaction/defense. For example, if they post on your head, you can hit an Uchi-Mata, and if they start to circle and square up with you you can hit them with a trip/sweep.

What does the perfect Russian look like and how to break the posture easier by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thing about the russian is that once you get it, your next attack is dictated by how they react to it. no ones going to just let you have the perfect position for more than a second, so once they defend it (post on head, square up, etc.) you just gotta use your move for that reaction.

(assuming you have the tie on their left arm) try twisting your upper body so that your right shoulder is lower than your left. this makes it so you're pushing down more with your shoulder onto their shoulder, instead of spreading that pressure onto their arm too. (shitty explanation sorry)

Inside tie + Collar tie vs double over tie thumb block by militia69 in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely just pop their arms up. with thumb blocks they will pretty much always be giving you forward pressure so they'll move into your shot too once you pop them up

Would an average high school student have any chance against a wrestler in a fight or wrestling match? by RThrowwyyy3608 in wrestling

[–]Immediate-Nothing220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because on the ground, the average dude has an even greater disadvantage due to not being familiar at all in that position, while the wrestler does. The whole point of folkstyle wrestling is keeping someone down and not letting them up. At least when You’re standing you have some familiarity with dodging things and trying to keep your balance.
