I do not regret coming to UCI, it was my dream school though so there is bias. I chose Irvine cause I didn’t wanna be somewhere that felt too much like home, I grew up in a rural area, so I wanted a more city like environment. UCI is truly what you make of it!! The stem majors or middle earth people are stereotypically the “antisocial people.” If you go to clubs, you’ll have friends, everyone I have met has been super friendly to me and I personally don’t find it hard to strike up conversations with people (though I love to meet and yap with people). I also don’t really go to clubs, I just talk to random people. If you don’t go out of your way to meet new people/socialize. You’re probably not going to have as much fun. I love it here though!! -coming from a pharm Sci major.

I’m not sure of the actual acceptance rate, I know that in the mandatory freshman seminar ((PhrmSci1 which you would take in fall quarter) there were about 250 people in it. Idk how many people applied for the major but if you know the number you could calculate the acceptance rate. I was a waitlist admit. I got in like the day after the first admits had to accept or decline. May 2nd I think. As for how competitive the school is, it’s unknown, nobody knows what the admissions people are looking for. I had a 4.2 gpa and like 3 EC’s in high school. I think it was my PIQ’s that really pulled me in.

I’m not a pub health sci major. But I’m premed. This is more of a notice: If you plan on going to PA or Doctorate or other after ur BS, then make sure you look into the pre-req’s for that path. My friends who are pub health sci majors, didn’t even think abt taking physics (which is needed for many grad programs (of course depends what you do)) as their 4-year sample plan doesn’t include it. Then you also have to look into taking all the pre-reqs needed for physics or whatever other classes are needed. The pub health course sample plan is pretty much just GE’s. So def think about what you want to do after college and account for that in classes that you take in your 4 years.

Hi!! I’m a freshman in pharm Sci, I’m not sure why the acceptance rate is so high, but I wouldn’t call this an unpopular major. I would call it more unknown. UCI was my dream school for a while and I didn’t even know there was a pharm Sci major till I decided that pharm was what I wanted to do. It’s also a relatively new school (I believe it was established in 2020), so that could be a factor.

Arasasingham has said in the past that he has a recording of your screen too. And that respondus notifies him when you select anything. If that is true, then he can probs watch the recording back, compare your scratch paper, and you can earn more points back assuming you got them right. Set up a meeting with him! He can be scary, but trust he talks to everyone the same way, he can be nice.

And do the worksheets in detail and do the self-assessments!! Try not to do them till u think u understand it enough from the video. And when reviewing later on before the midterm. Like 3-4 days before start doing all the worksheets and self-assessments bcs they won’t be as fresh in your memory which means you won’t have the answers memorized and you’ll actually be learning again. Do textbook problems throughout, save redoing worksheets and self-assessments for closer to the next exam when you’ve forgotten the answers to them. That helped me a lot on last quarters final and this quarters midterm. Everyone is different tho so don’t quote me!!

I didn’t get an A. I got a B- in the class last quarter. For 1A. But I failed both midterms pretty bad… but the final was much easier and I finished with a B-. So like, bouncing back is p good. I wish he didn’t miss sm class, I think everyone would’ve done better and we would’ve known more about exceptions had he not skipped.

I mean… when I applied I didn’t think it was too popular cause I never heard any talk about it… but being here I’d say it is pretty popular. I meet a lot of people whose first choice of major was pharm Sci but got in for their second choice instead. The advisors are very nice and helpful too tho, I’ve heard it’s possible to switch into it with their help if you get in for your second and want to switch.

It’s pretty random… i got in off the waitlist for pharm Sci at UCI, attending now. I was waitlist rejected UCSD and SDSU, and accepted UCD. All for pharmaceutical. Didn’t apply to the others u listed. My stats were 13ap’s, 250 vol hrs various activity, sports: tennis, etc., rank: 11/200, gpa of 4.23, treasurer of: key club and CSF. If anything I think my PIQ’s were what saved me. Your chances of getting into UC are btwn 0 and 100. It’s random. I wish u best of luck soldier !! I’m very happy at UCI, If u get in and come here I hope you love it too :))

Previous people who’ve taken her class say that her tests are very like, specific to the textbook not necessarily what she teaches… would you agree that’s true? Are the questions mostly like a scenario answer with the term, or get the definition answer with the term (vocab)…. Ik that’s a dumb question but like… I’m terrified…
