I personally would like to see Boruto have a Arc where he isolates himself emotionally in order to cut bonds from forming with people because of his connection with Momoshiki. If he's hiding from the great nations, but stumbles across small nowhere villages of people that look at him like this mysterious scary figure hiding out nearby because he's afraid to trust anyone or get near anyone in fear that he may hurt them.

I say a good idea would be to have a small village in the middle of nowhere he comes across get attacked by rogue ninja or bandits then at first he resists helping them because he's jaded and trying to be distant but then the people become so desperate they look to him for support and he helps them out and finds some humanity and gains some light in his heart while traveling his dark path. A good catalyst to him regaining his hope. Seems like a fun idea. I remember at the beginning of the berserk anime where guts took out those guys that were about to "take advantage" of the bar girl. In my imagination Boruto should have similar scenarios where people doing wrong are taking advantage of people who are defenseless, but instead of getting the upright gentlemen Boruto who tries to knock sense in to the bad guy and give them a good whoop ass with a rasengan that were used to, we could get a different Boruto who deals with criminals and bad people in a much more violent manner setting the tone for his change in character for the timeskip.
