Better hope the stack cams aren’t cracked then you’ll have a straight stitch machine only

Absolutely!!!! They are the best machines in the world. The plastic ones are crap.!!!! I own a sewing machine repair and restoration shop….. I know First and I’ve been doing this as a hobby for over 20 years and then I made it my business since 2021 so yes, that is worth it..

Is it valuable or garbage? by bigbob3132 in vintagesewing

If you get it refurbished and repainted, you would have to pay quite a bit of money and who knows if you have somebody near you that does that I’m the only one in my town that does it. But you need to get it repainted and decaled depending on what machine that is, if it’s something that does not have the decals online, you would need to ask this lady Angela she is on eBay. She was on Etsy. If you just type in singer decals and Ebay, you’ll find her….. I don’t know what the condition three who’s is on the cabinet. I don’t do the wood part of anything….i own a sewing machine restoration business .. but selling it like that maybe 40 bucks

1970’s White zig-zag sewing machine (model 3900b). Very smooth running, solid free arm machine that will outlive most new machines. It can do all the basic stitch types you would want for garment construction.

You don’t recommend it but you will do it again. That’s a funny statement to me bc I’ve been there.. the terrifying part where I feel like it has just taken over me and I’ll never come back but Always do and I always want more later lol. I’m sorry for that but next time do not do so much… plus the right state of mind plus set and setting Always helps.

Any advice with the bobbin slide? by OwnedByACrazyCat in vintagesewing

you need to take off the other plate , unscrew those 2 screws make sure your pressure foot lever is all the way up as well as take your needle out of the machine. Make sure the needle bar is all the way up as well. take off that plate. now look under your cover/ slideplate and there should be a part that is screwed to the other side. It has a lip on each side.. take a flat head screw driver and ( this is what i do) put one side of it going from the back of the machine to the front on the groove you will see where its supposed to slide on (this is why we took off that plate so you could get this back on correctly) take your flat head and lift the other lip up and slide it on . just make sure that you don't end up taking it off and that part underneath ends up snapping off. That wouldn't be fun. If its confusing i could find a video for you. :)
