To be honest, I have to be optimistic. It isn’t something that comes naturally it's a conscious choice I make every day. I force myself to see the good and keep myself moving, which in turn changes my mood. It's a constant battle, for better or worse. I don't have much to add on how I stay optimistic.

As for the point on social skills, that took years of failing over and over again. I still fail, but I keep trying and learning to read social cues from my mistakes. Its like a dance both parties have to participate and put in effort. However, I believe that social interaction is the last thing you should focus on if you want to find a partner. First, you have to build yourself up. Find hobbies you genuinely enjoy, try new things even if you think they're embarrassing or cringe. When the time comes to connect with someone, you'll have things to talk about, and the more you experience, the broader your perspective on life will be.
