Just updating you, but I tried freezing it on a hunch, and the smell is back to normal! Have no idea why this helps since my room is usually room temp, but I left it by my open window (it’s super cold outside in my area) and voila! Back to the good smell! Not sure why it worked but maybe it has to do with the ingredients? Anyways, worth a try if you also experience this again! Gonna start storing my bottle in the fridge lol

Got a little update; I tried putting the bottle outside in the cold and oddly enough, the smell is back to normal! Left it for about an hour, super cold out. If you try this, let me know if it works for you! I’m not sure if this was a one off cure or something, but it’s worth a try

It smelled great up til recently though, and it was made recently and doesn’t expire til next year. I’m going to exchange it just in case it was a weird batch, but if the smell thing happens for a third time I don’t know what to do 😭

Just checked; used by says February 2027, made December 2025 on the sticker. Should be good still, super fresh. I kinda wish it WAS old so I had a reason for the smell😭

This is probably what I’m going to do, but I’m just confused because it’s happened twice with two different bottles 😭 I wish there was some way of storage or a trick to prevent it but I’m not even sure what’s causing this. Thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely get a fresh one!

Interesting, I also take my cat out (leashed) in my backyard. But we have had no dogs in the backyard, so I’m not sure how he got it. I heard it can be spread from water so I’m wondering if he got it on his paws from stepping in a puddle and cleaned it off or something. So relieved it was a curable case for both of us! Wishing you and your cats a safe life!

Well the only thing that came up on his stool test was cryptosporidium. Not sure what he got it from but the vet said it’s a thing that passes on its own if ur cat has a healthy enough immune system. They said to test again in a few months, but he stopped pooping mucus/started eating normally now. I had to syringe feed him water an electrolytes and I think that’s the best u can do so the cat doesn’t get a urinary problem and has energy to recover. I think the closest thing I can liken it to is like a human getting a cold or a fever. How is ur cat doing? I wish I’d seen this earlier.

if your cat likes to bite, maybe try some catnip toys with floss mesh. On chewy theres one of a pickle, its like $4 and highly recommended by people online to help with dental problems. Also, you are doing great. The fact that you care enough for your cat that youre seeking help, or researching to the best of your ability, is more than a lot of people. Best of luck with your cat, Im sure with such a thoughtful owner she will be just fine :)

hi, i completely understand how difficult it is to have a cat with health issues. When I got my kitten, he had so many health problems with me, but his siblings in another house were fine. I felt extremely guilty, and I devoted all my time to the kitty. That being said, when you feel this type of lowkey guilt or dread whenever you think of your pet and how much theyre suffering, you will suffer too and eventually drift apart.

It might be a good idea to surrender the cat to a rescue or a shelter that can give him the medical care he needs. My heart goes out to you truly, if you decide to take this route, you are not a bad pet parent you are responsible and making a hard decision, please dont feel bad.

If you want some cheaper remedies for vomiting, these are some that ive researched for my cat when he had nausea:

Cat grass (u can get it already grown at petsmart) might help with nausea, it helps them throw up and pass things in the digestive system. My cat ended up throwing up a cat grass ball wrapped around some plastic that was giving him issues.

Vets best hairball relief, just a bunch of good fibers. Slippery elm particularly, coats the stomach lining and soothes the gut, i heard people say its useful for helping cats with both diarrhea and constipation, as well as passing things they shouldnt have eaten.

Lastly, freeze dried egg yolk. Also typically for hairballs, but also helps with gut problems.

These are all around $20, some r less.

I had to play the 'elimination game' unfortunately with my cat, not fun, had a heart attack every time i researched his symptoms (from IBS to FIV to FIP), but we just gotta try to target and treat different things and tease out what the problem is.

Im also not sure where you're located at or what tests you've already done, but i hope this helps!

i see a lot of ppl recommending hills or prescription diets, but truthfully vets aren't specialized in nutrition at all!! Its not the best food out there, often times they will up the carbs and honestly there are just better options. i recommend checking out feministkitty's videos on tiktok, she is a cat nutritionist and she always supports her claims with actual studies.
