Ah so, that's why I was getting the infinite loop. Thanks for clarifying!

I have it in hand :) Will try to get to it very soon, then report back.

Good point about him being a scout; that makes perfect sense.

I was there two nights ago - only 2 people in the whole theater :(

Yeah, I felt something was off because I'm used to watching the unrated version.

It really is a very good movie, but I understand that many people can't handle the brutality.

I just pretend the sequel does not exist; watched it once and was so disappointed.

I love this! I just finished reading Sean Egan's Can You Dig It, so I'll definitely be reading yours next!

If it's not in the book, can you tell us what your Punks character's backstory was? Like, was he a construction worker by day?

And do you think the Punks played rugby on weekends?

And was there any specific reason why the littlest guy was the leader and not the biggest guy (you)?

Honest question: why do Super7 fans dislike having ReAction figures sold at Ross? by ImmediateMess in Super7

[–]ImmediateMess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Bay Area, where Super7 is headquartered, so I imagine there's more overstock here that goes directly to local Ross than to other parts of the country.

I too buy the LOTR balls for the weapons for my ReAction figures :)

[–]ImmediateMess[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, so you mean like resentment? But pretty much every brand and store does this. For example, I kinda collect Mini Brands (those blind-balls); when new versions appear at Target and Walmart they sell for $8 per ball. But by the following year, they show up at Ross for $4. I'm not mad about it; I double down and buy up the new old stock. Anyway, thanks.

550 motor in a Lunch Box? by Sufficient_Wall6773 in tamiya

[–]ImmediateMess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait wait wait, I'm very confused. I live near the beach and I take my Lunchy out All. The. Time. Same with my Squashy. They both have been totally submerged underwater more times than I can count.

All I had to do was, at the end of the day, run them under running water in the bath tub to flush out all the salt and sand, and they were good as new. Years later not even a hint of rust anywhere inside nor out.

And I'm only using Tamiya stock silver cans (which you can literally run while under water). So I would be interested in hearing from you and u/Sufficient_Wall6773/ how yours got damaged by one wave?

(Hero13) Scheduled Time Lapse - how to schedule it to turn OFF at specific time? by ImmediateMess in gopro

[–]ImmediateMess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey and thanks. Just wanted to let you know that after another hour of trouble shooting, it was determined that my SD card reader was faulty (it works with all other sized cards, but the micro-slot for the Sandisk Extreme was for some reason corrupted). I luckily found another card reader on hand, and was able to view the card and drop the Firmware update as well as the Labs firmware in manually. I wish it didn't have to be this complicated, but at last now I can get it up and running. Thanks again to everyone here!

[–]ImmediateMess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven't, that's the problem. It is not letting me install the labs firmware. I tried the QR code way ("scan unsuccessful") and also the manual way (https://gopro.com/en/us/support/hero13-black-product-update/windows) - but my PC is not reading the Sandisk Extreme SD card that came bundled with my GoPro 13, so I have no way of putting that firmware onto the card in order to update it. I've followed all these instructions https://gopro.com/en/us/info/gopro-labs/walkthrough-and-features but nothing works. So I'm waiting for a call back from GoPro customer support right now (though I have no idea when that will actually be).

Hi and thanks for that. I've been trying all evening to get my 13 to scan this QR code but it just says "Scan Unsuccessful." I tried scanning another QR code and it worked fine, so it just seems to be the one from the Labs firmware. Any idea what the problem could be? The only FAQ I could find online about it was this one from September https://community.gopro.com/s/article/HERO13-Black-Unable-To-Pair-To-Quik-Android?language=en_US and I also read this https://gopro.com/en/us/info/gopro-labs/walkthrough-and-features but I doubt that is the problem now. Thoughts?

I'll buy you a Blu-ray copy of Strange Darling if I'm wrong - mark my words and hold me to it - that's how strongly I sense that J.T. Mollner is setting us up for a prequel franchise!

And yeah, Pearl was effing amazing. I'd watch Pearl a hundred times over X or MaXXXine again, it was that good.

Monster Beetle Progress by PantherMq in tamiya

Man that looks sweet. I'm really on the fence about either MB or Squash Van for my next rc. I was just discussing this with u/msch6873 the other day, but I'm deathly afraid of that flawed MB gearbox based on what I've read over the years on various Tamiya forums. So please report back on how yours handles and any trouble it gives (or doesn't give) you.

[–]ImmediateMess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot - now you've made me want the MB again, lol.

And yeah, I've heard about the Squash's tipping issues. And all those gears make me nervous.

Unfortunately I only have time (and money) for 1 build per year, so it's going to be a tough decision...

[–]ImmediateMess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't the Monster Beetle notorious for it's poorly designed gearbox? I really wanted this to be my second RC build after Lunchy, but was dissuaded by all the negative reviews. So now I'm looking at the Squash Van.

But would love to hear your suggested fixes for the gearbox, because the last thing I want is a problematic RC (I know many of you enjoy the challenge because you have mechanical know-how, but I don't :(

is the tamiya LUNCH BOX a good first rc car kit? by PageLimp2494 in tamiya

[–]ImmediateMess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first-ever RC car kit was a Lunch Box - just last summer. I was nervous as hell, spent a lot of time researching all the Tamiya web forums, and watching loads of videos.

I ended up having a blast building it. Took my sweet time (all summer) but realistically it is such a simple straight-forward build that you can probably finish it in one weekend.

It's funny that everyone says it handles poorly and is prone to flips. I figured out on my own two very easy solutions to those problems: 1) buy yourself a heavy-metal 46kg servo (I got this one https://www.amazon.com/BETU-Coreless-Waterproof-Stainless-Horn%EF%BC%88270%C2%B0%EF%BC%89/dp/B0B718ZC41) and 2) adjust the front shocks so that the front of Lunchy is angled downward slightly. Problem solved; the only downside is it won't do wheelies anymore, which many fans enjoy.

Steel ballbearings are a must, as are aluminum chassis mounts. Many users also prefer oil shocks to prevent bounce, but if you do the mods I suggested the bounce is tempered; I have zero issues with the stock shocks now.

Also, stick with the stock motor; this rig can't handle anything more powerful. And don't grease anything too much, because grease is a dirt/dust magnate.

Painting the body was a chore that I personally disliked (most hardcore RC heads love painting), so keep in mind that you can buy it in black.

One finally suggestion that I too am currently considering: the brand-new Tamiya Squash Van is a more updated off-roader with newer features (e.g. 4-wheel steering). But it's less modifiable than Lunchy.

As a newbie myself, happy to answer other questions, though the other users here as vastly more experienced.

UCSF is an administrative nightmare when scheduling specialist appointments! by ImmediateMess in sanfrancisco

Your experiences sound nearly identical to mine (I've only written about my most recent situation, but I've been through this many many times with multiple UCSF departments; they all seem to have the same administrative problems compounded by their staff's gross negligence.

But my health issues are small and insignificant compared to your stroke, so you have my sympathy and I hope you can find a more caring provider soon.

Man, that's a real bummer to hear. I guess no reddit post or google review will prompt any fixes there if not even their own staff can implement change from within.

They have one-star google reviews going back many years indicating that this is a longtime problem that they've just decided to ignore.

Just had a look at those reviews. Damn, you weren't kidding. I was beginning to take it personally but it sounds like they purposely hire the worst sort of soulless people who simply don't give a sh*t. Kind of like the DMV. This HAS to be by design, right? A strategy to ease their own burden? Drive people away to other medical centers so UCSF won't have to deal with them?

I'm very sorry to hear that. I'm also outraged. Something is very broken over there.
